The snow stuff looks pretty, but it is snow. Snow cascading from the sky always looks pretty.

But, in my opinion, the stuff inside is unexceptional and that is where the 70mm really should of worked its magic.

Joy, The Revenant, Sicario and The Son of Saul all look really gorgeous. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't gain any award traction this season.

Also worth mentioning, the script is very commercial, and I don't think the teaser portrayed that.

I don't see any reason why this won't make 100m. His last two films got their comfortably and I think QT awareness is at a high.

I think, like with Nolan and some of the Interstellar marketing, if this didn't have Tarantino's name it wouldn't be as highly praised as it is. Don't get me wrong, its a pretty good teaser, but if this was by some nobody director, it would likely be met with mild interest rather than "gotta see this movie."

 

That being said, this IS Tarantino, so I gotta see this movie!!!! However, I'm not sure if this has as good of a hook as Django did, and I'm wondering if it will be able to be as commercially successful as that film.

 

Unless they change up the release and it goes wide on Christmas, I doubt it will come close.  Though, I do think he has expanding his audience quite nicely and don't see this making less than Basterds.

It doesn't look as good as Django, not nearly as commercial. The scope looks smaller as well. 

But Tarantino's name should bring business. Im going to say 22m OW/ 90m

I'm not sure if going wide on Christmas will help in too much, unless the pre existing schedule drastically changes between now and then. For now I would say 25/112 for its wide release.

I enjoy all of his films but if I had to pick my least favorite it would be Jackie Brown. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are definitely the best.
