On the one hand GET HYPE and with my work hat on I hope to god it performs as well as it does and it's as much an event as it seems it will be about getting people back, on the other this is the first title where, like with Tenet back in the day (and we were proved wrong), we could genuinely begin to get worried re: COVID? The vaccine coverage here (82% of over 16s double jabbed, 67% of total population) is our only wall of defence ATM because otherwise it's no masks and no distancing at most places and everyone opposed to vaccine/neg test passports...ended up booking extra seats just for distancing's sake but fuck it (plus worked out the same as a single IMAX ticket in central London lmao)

As big as Bond is, I don't think it will effect covid cases as much as the Euros did. We won't be seeing crowds of people hugging and kissing every time James bond kills a baddie

Yup. But still, first sold out full capacity and no masks (well mandated that is) screenings since the start of all this...

Curious how they're handling press screenings as it's really down to each distributor. For the Albert Hall premiere vaccine/negative test is required and masks encouraged.

I’ve tried to tactically book a seat that leaves one seat empty on the end of a row, so that only a lone person would potentially sit in it, which is a thing that generally doesn’t happen. So at least that way, we can shuffle over onto that seat and create a gap if anyone sits directly to the left of me.

Does anyone know whether I will need to watch Spectre before watching this?

yes. In fact best to watch all the previous Craig films as this is a direct sequel to SP and, though they have only now started highlighting it in marketing, meant to tie up the whole story starting from Casino

Has always very true, but under any metric Connery Bond was extremely popular in 64-65:

2 My Fair Lady Oct 22, 1964   Musical $72,000,000 77,419,354
3 Goldfinger Dec 22, 1964 MGM Action $51,100,000 54,946,236
4 The Carpetbaggers Apr 9, 1964 Paramount Pictures Drama $28,409,547 30,547,900

5 That Darn Cat! Dec 2, 1965   Comedy $28,062,222 27,784,378
6 The Great Race Jul 1, 1965   Comedy $25,333,333

25,082,507

That putting 2 movie in the Top 3 2 year<s in a row and a third one at number 5 domestic while being a smash intl, enough for someone to pause a little bit before saying that this era Craig is when it was at is most popular (even if it has an argument for it).

I think it is the number 2-3 movies worldwide those 2 year<s behind the Sound of Music one of the biggest movie ever.

Acturally,This ranking is count re-release,James bond is morr popular than you think,Thunderball is the top money-maker of the year in NA

Goldfinger even have a little chance to beat Gone with the wind in 1965 for the WW box office king
1968《Sight,Sound and Society》:
“The gross in 1965 - 6 of Goldfinger was $ 42 , 000 , 000 . When the film is re - released it almost certainly become the biggest grosser in the history of the cinema ,overtaking Gone with the Wind”
