Wasn't Cameron hesitating to put a song at the end of Titanic for fear of being corny?

Oh how times have changed... :D

Yea but then you see MHWGO selling 50 million records around the world and he's like, "You know maybe this isn't such a bad idea."

rabid fanbase = buts in seats

That's why i suggested her, basically.

Box Office of movies featuring an original Taylor song:

-Hunger Games: 677M

-50 Shades Darker: 381M

-Cats: 75M

-Where The Crawdads sing: 136M

Box Office of movies featuring an original Weeknd song

- 50 shades of Grey: 570M

-Black Panther: 1.3bn

Weeknd officialy a bigger draw😎

This is obviously a comment that should be taken seriously

To be fair to Taylor though both of The Weeknd's movies had multiple hits off their soundtrack with other artists as well.

Man... This tells the state of mainstream music today. 80% of this list is pretty bad IMO. But that is for another discussion.

I like the choice of The Weeknd, I think he can give a nostalgic vibe to it that will resonates with the movie's tone and the audience.

Is there any precedent of a sequel to a very succesful first movie taking 10+ years of active, but smooth, development?

I just hope The Weeknd’s song is a lot better than the overdone Leona Lewis wannabe power ballad from the original. How badly did they want that Best Original Song Oscar when they were penning that thing (it ended up being snubbed, though the Globes nominated it because of course they did)?

You can make a reasonable argument about that not having much cultural impact. Leona Lewis herself was pretty much a Mariah Carey wannabe.

God I'd love a blue Taylor Swift. Still waiting for the butthole cut.

Even Celine wasn't a fan of the song and didn't want to record it, lol.

Has James Cameron ever talked about the song or Celine? I've looked before and couldn't find him mentioning it.
