Prediction, one of Polyphemus's other moons will operate as a forward headquarters for the Humans so they can amass a big enough army get that unobtainium.

This presupposes that they won't/can't launch an attack from space on Pandora though (which granted given the nature of the flux vortex is certainly possible).

I just don't think that they'd really need to mass an army if they actually send a military ship, I mean look at the Venture Star - it's so obviously a research vessel, I hope we see some USS Sulaco type designs coming into the orbit of our beloved Pandora.

I was under the impression that the venture stars design what was allowed it to get to Pandora so fast, 90% of the ship is made solely for getting the ship to close to lightspeed.

380?cb=20100127190540

On the right hand side of the ship in this image, the yellow red and pink areas are where the cargo and crew is. They have seven in these in constant loop from Earth to Pandora and back.

If they were to bring a military ship, it may take 2x,3x,4x,5x as long to get to Pandora which is 4.37 light years away. Also who is to say they even have giant military ships, the year is 2154, I don't think large scale space combat is even a thing yet. Although I could see having a bombardment space craft orbiting the earth and destroying all of another countries satellites would be extremely beneficial in a World War, that space craft would only be designed for orbiting earth though.

So I think if they were to bring a military ship with the intention of conquering Pandora, they would first have to design and build it. Which could take 3 to 10 years or more, then there's no guarantee that ship will be able to travel at the speed of the Venture Star.

My line of thinking was they could use the existing Venture Stars to amass a relatively immediate force, it would be cool if they were building the Sulaco though. Also Jim does love spectacle.

There's obviously been some type of combat back home I think in Avatar - purely because of the military hardware they have. That, and the fact we know there is scarce resources back on Earth which is the entire reason for being on Pandora after all - if there's one thing we know it's that scarcity breeds competition.

Landau remarks that Avatar 2 will silence any doubters who dismissed the first title as a one-time 3-D sensation.

“I don’t think you advance storytelling,” Cameron said. “I think storytelling is always about the basics. It’s about people. I think that the lesson for me from the first film that I’ve applied to the new films is the more fantastic the imagery, the more otherworldly and the more you’re pushing out to the edge of what’s possible in terms of bringing imaginative imagery to the screen, the more it has to be grounded in relationship, truth and heart. Hopefully, I’m doing that in spades with the new films.”

“I’m always very cognizant of the cast,” Cameron said. “I work very hard to cast this and find new young actors coming up who have incredible heart, are just amazing. It doesn’t matter how much you dress it up, create production design and visual effects. If the story doesn’t work, you’re not connecting for the characters, it doesn’t work.”

“You always have to give yourself permission as an artist to fail,” Cameron said. “You’ve got to try something. The least safe thing you can do is try to be safe.”

Here's another omen that Avatar 2 will shatter box office records in China. It already has a higher "want to see" index on Maoyan (China’s biggest online movie ticketing platform) than Infinity War! This is crazy considering Infinity War is perhaps the most hyped up blockbuster this year by a good margin (judging by trailer views and social media presence). Avatar 2 won't be released for another 3 years in China, and yet the hype is already off the charts and surpassing a giant blockbuster releasing in less than 4 months!

https://maoyan.com/films/248170 Infinity War

https://maoyan.com/films/341628 And here is Jurassic World 2 for comparison since it's another highly anticipated sequel this year.

https://maoyan.com/films/343034 Here is Furious 9, sequel to the highest grossing Hollywood films in China, just to show what type of hype a film several years away typically has.

Avatar 2 has always been massive on Maoyan compared to other future releases. It's so big that it often eclipses the "want to see"s of other big blockbusters that are within days of their release, when that metric peaks.

It's been steadily increasing, too - in mid-December of 2016, it was at 276.4k want to sees, and just over a year later it's at 346.2k, with Avatar 2 still being 3 years out and no substantial news having been released in the interim.

A2 has had this Maoyan page for years, so there're years of people hitting the "I want to see" button before Infinity War or JW2 even had a page. Look at the page number A2 78461 only five digits, and all the other 3 with six digits.

A2 will be a record breaker in China, but what you posted is not a solid argument.

I think it actually outpaced (or at least paced level with) Infinity War over 2017, though. Avatar 2 added 70k want to sees in that time period, and I think Infinity War was at like 30k, maybe even 40k at the end of 2016, so it's added 60-70k or so.

The fact that it's pacing similarly to a big blockbuster that's releasing 2 and a half years before it is a good sign at least.

Edit: Checked and it was at 27k in April 2017, so 73k since then and probably 80k-90k in 2017, so slightly ahead of what Avatar 2 did in the same time period.

My 2 Billion China prediction seems like I'm low balling more each day.

Imagine the bump when the trailer hits.

I was looking on imdb at the characters in the film and all the kids are only signed on for A2 and 3, Kate's Ronal for only Avatar 2.

Now I have no idea if imdb is accurate in this case... These kids could easily appear in A4 and 5 but even so. I've got a feeling some major shit is going to go down in Avatar 3 and there is going to be a timeskip or quite a lot of character deaths, call it my pandoran instinct if you will.

I think your Avatar is going to "cross the line"....slaughtering a group of kids will be that moment.
