Recommended Posts

Ooh, if we're doing October anticipation:

1. The Martian (although I am seeing it in September)

2. The Lobster

3. Macbeth

4. Crimson Peak

5. Suffragette

6. The Program (only because I know the person upon which the film centers)

7. The Walk

0. MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL RE-RELEASE!

  1. The Martian
  2. Goosebumps
  3. Steve Jobs
  4. Bridge of Spies
  5. The Walk
  6. Our Brand is Crisis
  7. Suffragette
  8. Crimson Peak
  9. Pan
  10. The Last Witch Hunter

October 2015 looks surprisingly compelling

Five stars from Robbie Collin:

Several comparisons to FURY ROAD. Apparently the 3D is excellent and genuinely innovative. I like Collin a lot so I may see it in 3D.

The Verge: "Astonishing"

Very positive review by A.O. Scott

Scott Mendelson has mixed views on the buildup in the movie, but the climax is "exhilarating"

The movie's fate will be determined by how people react to the final set piece which is the actual walk. If done well as the reviews suggest, it could lead to great word of mouth of " You have to see the world trade center walk in IMAX"

Yep, Mendelson's review is what makes me think WOM will be good.

Zemeckis really tried his best to be the pioneer in motion capture movies. Just too bad that the Uncanny Valley killed all of them. As per usual, we should have waited for Cameron to come along and perfect it.

zemeckis seems more interested in the technically side than the story side. I'm not surprised people are saying the tightrope sequence is much better than the rest of the film. probably a more extreme example was Flight where the plane crash sequence was incredible and the rest was... not. luckily for this movie they'll save the set piece until the end.
