Thor : The Dark World did $36,586,016 on its sophomore weekend

Will TASM2 now start losing to Thor2 too ?...Avi gonna have a tantrum of epic proportions...

Thor also made $6m less on it's OW and the 2nd Weekend comparison is nearly a wash.

No one loses jobs for $750m ww.

This is actually a great explanation for why there are so many sequels, prequels, and reboots nowadays. Suits live in fear, and your bases are (mostly) covered if you make something that's already got a lot of audience awareness.

  :o

If ASM2 falls behind TDW again next w/e then I predict there will be blood in the halls of Sony - especially since Godzilla is no Catching Fire.  But I don't see that happening.

Well, they are already roughly at $1 million from each other at the same point on the domestic front.  TASM2 has Memorial day, TTDW had Thanksgiving and Christmas hollidays later on its run.

So it can really go both way domestically.  They will finish close to each other, that's for sure.

When you pubically put it out there in the indusrty trades you feel like your films "reasonable" expectations are for a BILLION---then, yeah, jobs are on the line.

$750m is not a silver lining fallback

The people responsible for the $250m+ budget with all the filmed scene cuts and changes should probably lose their job even with a $750m WW.  Ditto the people that allocated a reported $180-190m in marketing.

So should the script writers but those guys seem to be teflon coated.

If you're the head of the studio then your job is predicated on more than a single film. And no one else will lose their job over a statement like that.

It's not terrible, but the DOM market is a huge market and spiderman movies should be doing way way way better than barely scratching past 200M. So yeah, even though WW they'll make their money somewhat, jobs to me would still be on the line.
