Fantastic # for both Annabelle and Gone Girl! Not sure when ill see the latter, but ill wait for On Demand to see Annabelle for sure.

Was thinking of seeing Gine Girl at a matinee today, but I woke up feeling kind of sick this morning, so my best bet is Tuesday night.

$2m of that is from it's OW in Russia last weekend, and no doubt the weekdays since aswell.

And another 22 smaller markets the day before the US.

As of the 24th October, Annabelle will be opened everywhere worldwide. Should do well. Apparently it's $7m from whatever markets is already higher than The Conjuring in those markets.

Indonesia is one of those smaller markets. And Annabelle is doing really well. The hype is HUGE, since The Conjuring was very popular here. It's getting a blockbuster treatment, with multiple screens in several theaters. The theater I went to has the biggest screens (hence the most seats) in this country and they gave them all to Annabelle. And those shows were nearly sold out on Saturday. Not sure about the WOM though.

Poor number for The Good Lie and downright toxic number for Men, Women & Children. Jason Reitman, get your shit together!

Men, Women and Children is by no means a great film but who in their right mind thought releasing it on the same day as Gone Girl was a good idea?  Same goes for The Good Lie.  All three films pull a similar audience.  Both Paramount and Warner Bros. are completely clueless when it comes to scheduling a limited roll-out and it's most likely because they prematurely shuttered all of their specialty film divisions back in 2008.  Sony Pictures Classics has no problem getting great per-screen averages on even marginal films because they know the business.  They use counter-programming to their advantage and they pay close attention to the theatres they book.  Paramount royally screwed up the releases of Young Adult and Labor Day as well.  I'm going to assume Reitman signed a three picture deal with the studio after Up in the Air or he would have jumped ship long ago.

The worst part about The Good Lie number is that Reese Witherspoon's performance may be overlooked come Oscar time. The Academy likes movies which got at least some box office traction.

Well this is shaping up to be an awesome movie weekend!

-Great openings for Gone Girl and Annabelle

-Great hold for GOTG

-Surprisingly good hold for Maze Runner

-Even The Equalizer is on target for a good drop (possibly under 50%), which is really good going up against GG and Annbelle, two other big R-rated openers.

Is it possible that if Annabelle opens bigger than Conjuring overseas, that it will hurt Conjuring 2? (Assuming the WOM isn't anywhere near as good?) Perhaps it might even put a small dent in Conjuring 2 domestically too?
