Fifty Shades Darker | February 10th, 2017 | First Trailer on Page 13

I actually wonder if her contract is that different than any other authors of huge bestsellers. Does she have THAT much more control, or is she just that much more crazy?

Like if JK Rowling really wanted to stop HP in its tracks, I wonder if she could've? She (and Meyers, Collins, Divergent author) might just have been smart enough to recognize that everyone benefits when you let the experts do their jobs, so they stood back and just collected their paychecks.

E.L. James is such a joke. Can't believe she is being this big of a headache for Universal. Feel bad for Dakota Johnson. She's too good for a sequel written by unknown Mr. E.L. James.

Basically E.L. James is writing the screenplay herself since I'm sure she will be peering over her husbands shoulder every sentence of the way.

two year gap for this could really hurt. Iron won't be hot at all

Honestly they could release this tomorrow and it would barely manage half of what the first did. It was really poorly received at least among everyone I know and spoke to about it.

Does the sequels get kinkier sexually ?

I think so. In the third one she gets shot. I'd pay plenty to see that.

Two year gap might help it actually. Right now it's such a joke. A little distance might build up anticipation and give people a chance to miss it.

People thought releasing the first in 2015 would hurt, since the book's hype probably peaked back in 2013. Seemed to have worked out okay.

Unless those domestic numbers are a harbinger of things to come.

ELJ really does have much more control than other authors. The articles written when 50SoG was being released earlier this year went into it. Universal has been around for a few years. Do you really think they don't know how to shuffle "difficult" people off the set? She didn't sell the movie rights until the books were already a phenomenon, and she comes from fandom, so she asked for the moon in terms of control, and Universal were desperate enough to give it to her. I'm so glad EL got her way in the end. Firstly because I'm sure I'll somehow get dragged to it so I might just as well watch some porn on a huge screen, not a romance movie, second because if I was in her shoes I'd fight as hard as I can for my vision to be respected. Well done, lady (and yup, I know she is a really shitty writer).
