God, I cannot believe how much money Titanic made. We're only talking about the third ever film to cross 1b OS and Titanic did it over 17 years ago.

Yep, titanic was titanic.

17 years for 3 films to cross a billion overseas, how many more years will it take for another film to reach 2 billion overseas like AVATAR?

Crazy.

in other news, Paul Blart 2 has held depressingly well, despite 4% on RT and poor audience reaction. I guess it shows how lackluster the box office has in the last couple of weeks in terms of new releases.

At least it won't make as much as the first, so hopefully we won't see a third.

Still only increased by less than £1.5M (9%). Adjusted for inflation it has not increased at all. AoU OW is exactly the same as TA1 OW adjusted, that suggests no growth to me.

You're not factoring in that difference in exchange rates.  The dollar is stronger now. 3D share probably also decreased.

Until when is this? And do you remember Mason during the BOM days lol?

I don't know until when. It may have been mentioned in her thread on here.

I barely remember people talking about Mason but I joined when Nikki was doing the early box office.

Only a few movies can really transcend time, Titanic will be near the top of the All-Time lists forever.  I think adjusted for inflation, Titanic might be over 3B WW, completely insane, considering it only got 2600 theaters and the Oversees markets were smaller or even nonexistent.

Then you were a bit off.  The difference is 2m not 1.5 and it's about a 13% rise

You're right, I thought the $# was 26.3 not 27.3. Still, not great, essentially no increase when you factor in inflation.

Edited by tree - we're home
