Jurassic World Weekend Thread | Official Est. 204.6M | 208.8M - Actuals

It is possible, but remember that JP4 did have college and high school kids on summer break during school hours while TA1 didn't. So it would have been easier to hit that kind of day business in June than early May.

Still an unbelievable number. I don't think anyone other than Excel thought a Jurassic Park movie would be the one to take that day business record. It blew past the number by over $2m. Spielberg's dinosaurs are awesome.

True, if it really does 70M on Saturday like I think than OW record is a done deal.

IO is pretty much fucked by the schedule. Opening after a family movie makes 200M is hard. Add the fact that it's legs will be destroyed by Minions a few weeks later and even te lower expectations of people around here might be too much.

I am a big PIXAR fan but I honestly see IO under-performing. It just doesn't have that hook. It's marketing material has been solid rather than good/great. Minions is going to destroy records.

Relative to my own predictions, this is without question more shocking than any opening weekend in recent memory. Maybe ever.

A possible $200m? Maybe the all-time record? For a fourth movie in a franchise not named Star Wars?

Just stunning.

Good to see you Shawn.

I think those are two big television events for sure but it's not the Supernova of Entertainment that "Avengers 2" had on Saturday.    The Sunday Drop is important but I'm wondering how it holds today.  So many reports on social media of it being Sold Out so many people are going to try today to see it for sure.

Like i said pages ago, I feel like many theaters didnt order enough prints, so theres still alot of unsatisfied demand. My 14 screen only has JW on 4 screens I beileve, 2 3D and 2 2D, they werent expecting such an opening, and thats why I think Sat and Sun will be strong. I feel like theaters all over the country is this way, and sell out were commonplace last night.

Same with Avengers, demand was unexpdcted and theaters had to scramble, whereas with TA2, they knew what to expect. I see spillover.

It just outgrossed JP3 entirely in 3 days.

And it's going to obliterate it internationally.

Seriously, what happened to JP3 outside of NA? Barely matching its domestic overseas was so uncharacteristic of the franchise.

Lesson learned this week.

Nostalgia is a powerful force in America.

EVERYWHERE.

I'm seeing the film on TUESDAY.

No good seats aren't fully booked until Tuesday. It's fucking insane. I have never seen anything like it.

Not in Canada, though, where it's a massive bomb!

Yes, it's playing to empty houses here.  I heard people ask for their money back.
