Quigley
$512.8M total as of Monday - $18.8M on Monday Iron Man 3 earned $72M during its second week of weekdays. Divided by 4 that's $18M per day. Avengers made $86M during those weekedays, averaging $21.5M a day.
Quigley
Also, an important, rather positive, point from the intl box office report from Deadline: When comparing territories that opened last weekend to this one, the overall drop-off was 55%.
John Marston
It dropped hard outside of Europe too. This is just a frontloaded movie

Agafin
1 hour ago, Quigley said: Also, an important, rather positive, point from the intl box office report from Deadline: When comparing territories that opened last weekend to this one, the overall drop-off was 55%. That's just Deadline being terrible at Maths as usual. There's no way that it only dropped by an average of 55% from holdovers. It made $23.9 million last Monday. This Monday it grossed $18.8 million with $9 million of that coming just from China. That leaves us with $9.8 million which is already a 59% drop from week. Then there's the fact that the movie opened in 32 additional territories that last Monday did not have so the actual Monday gross from last week's holdovers is actually much less than that, probably closer to $6 to $7 million. So the actual drop from holdovers is likely 75% give or take a few percents. This is a pretty bad number but considering that last Monday was a holiday in some countries (not to mention the heat wave in Europe), it's not as terrible as it actually seems. For reference, Iron Man 3 made $21 million in its second Monday OS (despite making much less in China since the market was smaller back then) for a 13 day total of $525.8 million. It's a bit concerning that CW still hasn't caught up to it yet even yet despite a stronger China behind it (exchange rates notwithstanding) and a stronger first weekend ($200.4 for CW vs $198.4 million for IM3). IM3 made $18.2 million on its second Tuesday (for a $544 million two week total), $19.4 million on its third Wenesday ($563.4 million cume) and $89.3 on its third international weekend ($664.1 million total after three wekends). CW likely won't match any of IM3's weekdays this week and will likely finish the week below IM3's corresponding $664.1 million (or just a tad above that) but it certainly can do better than its third weekend. Or at least, it needs to do better (like $100m+ OS weekend) otherwise even IM3's OS total ($804 million) might be in jeopardy with X-men hitting it next week.
Lordmandeep
Its rather clear that Civil War should have been called Avengers Civil War overseas. Also the film seems to well liked in North America but not as much overseas? For example it will likely end up around Ultron Domestically... Is it because lack of big action climax? pensivepenguin
Sorry if I'm not gonna read past this page (page 18) but can someone just summarize: is this film doing better or under IM3 internationally? I'm getting a sense that it's the latter.
Lordmandeep
This films overseas track depends on its performance this weekend. If it recovers then its back to 800+ if not its ~800. As Domestic will be 400 + its good regardless.

From what I've heard from people, it's getting a very strong reception in the UK. All my friends that have seen it loved it, my housemate at uni said it was the best superhero film he's seen. I saw it last night and the audience seemed to love it. I thought it was absolutely brilliant, miles better than AoU. It had a perfect amount of action (which was fucking impressive by the way), not too much, not too little.

If say ~ $850m is their break even point, 1.1b - 850m = 250m divide approx. by 2 = $125m in profit just from theatrical. Not bad at all.
