Top ten films of 2016 predictions

Recommended Posts

Anything Remotely successful?!!  Haha

Since 2000:

Minority Report - 132m

CMIYC - 164M

WOTW - 234M

IJ4 - 317M

Lincoln - 182m

I'd say he's done just fine.

Yeah, all of his films this millennium have been good for a solid 80m DOM, excluding Munich. And he's still had the blockbuster grosses as you illustrated. So his name certainly still carries some box office heft, and he still makes films that are well received by the majority.

Not to mention deadpool got a standing ovation at Comic-Con and only exists because the fans demanded it it won't flop

Wade, this is stupid. Here's one of the most important things you learn in this business: however vocal a hardcore fanbase is, they mean JACKSHIT compared to the general audience. They can not make a bad movie (or even a good movie) succeed. They can not make a good movie fail. Thousands of examples.

You shouldn't trust the internet (forums) to determine the reception a movie is going to get. Normal people don't dwell there, just niche types.

13 The Jungle Book $210m/$610m

14 Star Trek Beyond $240m/$590m

15 Passengers $190m/$500m

Good list....with exception of some movies here, that I do have to disagree with.

KFP3: I think that WW-gross is way too low and way too unrealistic for animated third parter....especially with how fast, chinese markets are expanding nowadays.

ID4 P2: The first one made $817M WW, almost 20 years ago...I think with the advantages of 3D & China, nowadays...it would be more likely to beat it WW.

IA5: The last 2 films nearly $691M & $716M OS...So with China now...the fifth one is more likely to go higher, OS.

It hasn't started filming yet and details are scarce (we don't even have an official title!), so I wouldn't be surprised if it were delayed to late 2016. Also, it's set to open the same day as Finding Dory - it has to move! To answer your question, I think it will still be a 2016 film though - I'm thinking it'll be pushed back to October/November.

Thanks For the answer

Yeah, those 3 are the ones I've since reconsidered. IA5 and KFP3 will probably be closer to $800m (possibly $900m considering China). I'm not so sure about ID4 though - sure, it could pull a JW, but it could also underperform. It's difficult to call since we know so little about it.
