Is Optimus Primal a new character distinct from Prime or is Peter Cullen being recast? I don’t know Beast Wars lore, it’s all very confusing.

Optimus Primal is the descendant of Optimus Prime and is therefore a new character.

That's...honestly kind of a bummer. There was something so charming about Peter Cullen still sticking around for all these years

They said just days ago that Cullen was basically going to be the lead in this...

(And Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime are different characters)

First Indiana Jones 5 gets pushed back an entire year now this, whats going on? They were both already well into filming so something had to happen for Paramount to bring things to a halt, major script rewrites? This is getting crazy.

There's still a backlog that's been caused by COVID and so studios are filling up their schedules for the next two years with stuff that's either already shot or in the middle of shooting. FWIW its original release date would've had it following Jurassic World and Lightyear with Minions and Thor following right behind it.

Folks: Don't immediately assume this is about this movie, itself.  This was the Star Trek date -- which Paramount simultaneously pushed back to December 2023 -- and I'd be more apt to believe, based on recent history in that franchise, that it's the Trek production that they're still figuring out.  This is how unwarranted rumors get started, with no evidence otherwise...yet.

Where is Hailee Steinfeld? Bumblebee was a good movie so I was assuming a sequel would be happening.

"Good movies" unfortunately don't equate to investor confidence.  But agreed, Bumblebee was the most enjoyable of any of these movies since, well...the very first one.

It's disappointing that this is basically going to be collecting dust on a shelf for an entire year, but this delay might be worth it in the long run, since summer 2022 is already crowded as is. Jurassic World 3, Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, Black Adam etc. would have caused this to be buried much like Detective Pikachu and Godzilla 2 were because of Endgame.

Of course, the new belt-tightening Paramount regime is going to be a problem. That's why I think this delay might also be to give Robbins and co. enough time to decide what to do with this big budget leftover from Jim G. We'll see what happens.
