Trailers

21 Jump Street

Some movie about war that apparently has real life soldiers playing the characters. The trailer has a great song playing in it.

A movie about an Edgar Allan Poe themed killer.

Project X? A movie about a giant party.

Movie:

So honestly I just wanted to go to the movies to ask for a movie poster that they didn't have. Haywire had Fassbender and action and good reviews so I chose to see that.

HOLY GOD THE FIGHT SCENES (of which there are maybe 10 that each last 5 minutes at least) ARE AMAZING. The choreography is perfect and it's really flashy yet still "real" with guns rarely being used. The girl is apparently some martial arts person in real life so I guess she already knew some of her character's (Mallory) awesome moves. Michael Fassbender is only in it for maybe 20 min but he's great, Michael Douglas is good but in it even less, Ewan McGregor (sp?) is pretty awesome, and the rest of the cast is too long to list. Just woa. I would see this again to watch the bedroom fight scene. And the one on the beach. And in the diner. And the one in Barcelona. And all the others. AND THE LAST LINE! It's hilarious!

One thing I noticed was that the font used to name the cities the characters go to is like the same font they used in Contagion. Same director, who knew. Great cinematography. AND THE SCORE. AMAZING MUSIC.

When each fight scene reached the climax the audience I was watching with all laughed at how friggin' amazing Mallory is and how she just owned that particular opponent. Hard.

It starts really slow and is mediocore at best for the first half hour, but manages to at least somewhat find its footing the last hour.

Ultimately, the problems are the score is terribly out of place, and some of the attempts at "style" are just silly and don't work well. The action is decent, but feels way too choregraphed and staged, which leads to little intensity or suspense. It's a decent, passable action film, but ultimately passable feels the most appropriate word to describe this.

Oh boy! I have seen some really bad films this year so it's hard for me to rank them shit of the shit, but this is amongst the worst. The story makes no sense, the choreography is horrid, the fight scenes are lame and the cast should apologize for this film right away. As we know from the trailier, Gina Carano is being set up to take the fall for some mission gone wrong. What she is really being set up for is that there is a journalist who is writing some bad things about some bad guy. Her and her team rescue him and then some other bad guys kill him and pin it on her. They went through a lot of trouble for nothing. The best thing to do in a situation like this is to hire a sharp shooter and kill him. There was no need to go as far as they did. And all for a journalist? This is the kind of film where the creators of it think they are so much smarter than you. They film it with a dark lense, they make the European scenes look grimy and seedy and they do this for no reason. The film is terrible on every level. I can't believe the talent involved in this and I can't believe Soderberg made a film this terrible.Funny, my audience didn't laugh or groan or applaud the way Travtoo's did. In fact, while I was at the urinal after the movie, I asked four of the other guys who came out of the movie if they liked it. "That was fuckin horrible" two of them said. "That was pointless the other two said." i couldn't agree more. 0/10

lol, I'm imagining baumer and the four guys taking a piss and baumer getting turned on when they say they hate the film, too.

Funny image but I don't get turned on by the sound of other people's urine. :P

This was one of the 3 movies I saw this weekend and it was probably the least of the 3.

About 8-10 minutes in, completely forgetting who the director was, I literally said out loud to the girl I was with, "this looks like Oceans 11". Of course, about 10 seconds after that I remembered that Soderbergh was the director and that answered my own question. It literally was shot just like the Oceans movie. Right down to some of the scenes with no sound, just the same kind of music playing.

The fights were ok, and the very end was ok, but other than that, there really wasn't much else.

Overall, it was just a blah movie. No real personality at all.

Gina Carano isn't an actress (I know her voice was altered, but seriously, did Tommy Wiseau teach her how to read dialogue?), but she's a hell of an action star. Some of those fight scenes were very well composed.

It's forgettable fun.

This is the epitome of mediocrity. with a script that, if not for Soderbergh or this cast, would only be good enough for direct-to-video hell. I can't even say this was all that entertaining but the fighting was realistic enough but everything else was just flat.

If I didn't know going in that Soderbergh directed this I would have found out instantly because of the music choice, it's stuff straight out of the Ocean's films.Fun film with great hand-to-hand fight choreography.B+

Caught this a few weeks ago. Fight scenes were hard hitting and rough- I especially liked the fights with Fassbender and Tatum- and the movie was sleek but very forgettable and did not have any sense of real urgency or importance. All this crazy shit was going on, but I never had any reason to care. It had an all star supporting cast but that doesn't excuse the fact that a glorified stuntwoman was the lead actress. Yes, she can throw a punch, but she has the charisma and dialogue delivery of a tin can. I wouldn't say that she was dreadful but simply getting through the performance was not good enough to carry the film.6/10

Bill Pullman was in this. He didn't do much but I liked seeing him. The storyline was uninteresting but I did think the fight scenes were well done and looked realistic. Yeah the girl can't act but I guess she did the best she could. At first I thought the music was cool but then it started getting on my nerves, lol. But that's what you get with Soderbergh. He loves using an odd color palette for some reason. He's always going against the grain and tries to experiment with these smaller movies. Overall I think it was okay. I watched at home on Netflix. So it's okay as a rental.C-

Gina Carano is not a star. This is her Glitter. She tried and failed. Only some jaded MMA geeks think she should sink Wonder Woman.

Oh noes!

She needs some acting lessons. Soderbergh loves taking non actors (literally) and giving them starring roles in his movies.

Remember the porn star he used for the girlfriend experience?
