The more people that see a truly mediocre Marvel film, the more it hurts future MCU movies and forces them to switch things up. So, I hope as many people see Captain Marvel as possible, the bigger the OW the better. I'm hoping for $200M+ DOM, and $500M+ WW. Go Captain Marr-vel!

Reminder that the consensus for CM is "formulaic" lmao:

Critics Consensus

Alita: Battle Angel's story struggles to keep up with its special effects, but fans of futuristic sci-fi action may still find themselves more than sufficiently entertained.

Consensus - struggling to be sufficient

I repeat:What makes people dislike the Cameron worshippers here is not so much they like James Cameron, but that they hate anything and everybody they see as competition to him.

But keep it up. Just remember that Cameron and Marvel Studios are going to be working for the same boss in a couple of months...

Come to think of it, One of Cameron's dream projects was a Spiderman movie...

Consensus for Alita was written when it was still at like, 40% lmao. It's more than worthless, just like RT critic score which puts Guardians of the Galaxy above Titanic. Looking forward to the CM audience score. :redcapes:

Doesn't count when CM's obvs gonna have thousands of people downgrading it without even seeing it, and most people who would go see a movie like Alita anyway are the people who would like a movie like Alita

Strange : I went forward in time... to view alternate futures. To see all the possible outcomes of telling @dudalb criticizing Disney/Marvel is not the same as criticizing all movies.

Quill : How many did you see?

Strange : Fourteen million six hundred and five.

Stark : How many did he finally realize that criticizing Disney/Marvel is not the same as hating all movies?

Strange : ...None.

Honestly, this Cameron vs Marvel thing is just boring. In Latin America is well known there's only one true king, emperor of legs, destroyer of records:

Spoiler

And I await the day he will retake its throne from the Avengers usurpers. Actually no, I would hate that, but I know better than to trust Disney to not make another one to get all that sweet chinese money.

Yes Alita's Audience Score that has resulted in great repeating viewings at the box office oh wait....

I don't think an Audience Poll that is unverifiable is a good basis for any argument.

I agree, how good a movie is does not necessarily translate into great box office. Guess us Cameronites will take solace in Alita being the most successful and beloved live-action manga adaptation ever.

Hey I agree it's a good movie just that Audience Score =/= how audiences actually felt about the film

Avatar's RT Audience Score is 82%. Wouldn't you say that's a bit low considering the box office?

It's a good score. Not everyone likes the same thing. Audience score only weakly correlates with box office, just like RT critic score.

So the challenge is to make sure that Alita makes a lot of money on the week that CM opens? Good luck with that, ALita fans.

Is that the challenge?  I hadn't bothered to check.  Good Luck.  Thoughts and prayers and all that.

I assumed it was something to do with people trying to attach their heads to a robot body.  That seems more achievable.

Seems to me that quite a bit of James Cameron work is pretty damn formulaic also.......

I agree, Aliens, Titanic, The Terminator, and Avatar have so much in common it’s disgusting how he gets away with it.
