Christmas Eve Awakens: SW 27.5-28.5m (Rth) So this is how Avatar dies, with thunderous applause

Anything over 50M today is a win in my books.

I am not gonna lie, I know most just care about SW, but I am curious to see what the 4 openers, The Big Short, Hateful 8, Sisters and Alvin 4 do today.

Few more records were added to SW7's run, Biggest Monday & Tuesday ever. Biggest non-OD Wednesday ever and biggest Christmas eve gross as well. It's shattering record at astronomical speed. It reached 391.1M in 7 days or average of about 55.86M per day. It's run so far seems very backloaded, meaning great things for legs. It's already up to domestic all-time number 22 and will reach top 10 by end of the day and top 5 by end Sunday. Avatar potentially could fall within 17 days. As for billion domestic, as long as it maintains Avatar+32% it'll hit that milestone. Currently, it has buffer of 210M so it would need to lose the entire buffer to miss that milestone which seems highly unlikely at this point. Spizzer brought up a great point. Both Frozen and Avatar continued to have great hold even after the holidays so expecting a collapse after NY weekend is unlikely to occur. My guess it hits 1.15-1.2B domestic. I'll give a more thorough update on OS and WW by Sunday. Merry Christmas to everyone and hopefully SantaRth gives us high 50s to low 60s estimate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100% increase today gets us 55m. There really is no reason to doubt this film at this point. It held up better during the week than pretty much anyone thought it would. Might as well let the craziness ensue.

I think $50m at a min is a pretty safe bet at this point.
