Yes, Friday was a slight rip-off but he should be very happy that his slasher formula became very popular in the 80's. Nova Posted May 29, 2016 Share Posted May 29, 2016 So apparently The Shallows is being pushed as a "horror" movie. I'm not really sure it qualifies in my book. To me it's more of a survival movie. Then again I think movies like The Conjuring, Friday the 13th, paranormal activity etc are horror films so it's probably just my preconceived idea of what a horror film is. The Grudge came out beforehand and was a huge hit, then by the time The Ring Two came out, it did even less than The Grudge. So, there's a chance The Conjuring 2 could gross less than Annabelle.
