I'm kind of surprised WIR is getting a movie sequel and not Tangled, which made more money and I assume sold more merchandise.

It was discussed, but the directors (Howard and Greno) weren't interested: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/tangled/33887/exclusive-why-disney-never-made-tangled-2.

I'm sure Tangled is more profitable with merchandise added in, but in terms of box office WiR was actually the bigger success. Remember Tangled had a gargantuan $260m budget, thanks to its tumultuous production, and didn't quite hit 600m WW. WiR on the other hand did close to 500 on a 165m budget. The profit from box office for WiR was probably twice as much or more than Tangled's.

I doubt they'll be any bigger a presence here if the plot's more about the internet.

I'd rather they focus on making Ralph and Vanellope more interesting characters

Well, Mario Kart and Smash Bros are played online so why not.

However with a focus on the Internet it's likely to bring Warcraft references. Or Call of Duty.

I think they're already interesting.

Re: Zootopia 2. I think a TV series is a better use of the IP, but I wouldn't be adverse to a sequel. However I take issue with those wanting a sequel to be about Nick/Judy becoming a "couple" just like I have issue with the Give Elsa A GF movement. I don't think the sequels have to be about romance, and it's nice to have characters or friends who DON'T develop feelings for another. If they do it, I'm fine with it but I don't think anybody is entitled to have that come into being. It's a creative work, not a political statement.

Also Nick and Judy hooking up is weird. Sorry. It is.

Totally agree, Judy and Nick being a couple would be too weird, they're not from the same species, it's like expecting Elsa and Olaf to be a couple, or Hiro to have a mechanic BF/GF.

No, please no, why do you want to waste a great friendship with weird romance?

As for Elsa finding love why not, she can think about that now.

About the Tangled sequel that will be a TV show, it is expected in 2017 and will look like this :

Yes, in 2D, and she'll be back with her blond hair and the story will take place right after the movie.

People wanting a return to Disney movies in 2D could be interested.

Yeah, she can. It can even be a woman. But it doesn't have to be because some fans feel entitled to that. It's whatever the creative powers that be wish IMO.

I don't want a tv show mainly because they probably couldn't get Jason Bateman to be part of it.

And Zootopia 2 doesn't have to have Nick and Judy hook up, even if I think that would be cool.
