marveldcfox
Fox has gotta be extremely disappointed. This movie is a major underperformer everywhere. Sadly, I don't think China will rescue this. Really hoping Kingsman 2 doesn't underperform big time. I want that to be a big spy/action franchise.

brian.jensen.507464
Extremely disappointing numbers. They're not too disappointing, considering the competition that it's dealing with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
John Rambo
For some reason i feel this movie didn't have buzz similar to Dawn. Even though the critical reception is too good this one suffered from lack of buzz and dwindling interest on apes movies! In India Dawn and Rise did good business but this one opened to very less numbers. Even the dubbed versions were not upto the mark!
a2k
Looking at the drops it's being showing and assuming it goes down in China (say 85-90 vs 105-110 of Dawn) too, I feel 350-400 OS is on cards. 375 OS + 155 Dom = 530 WW That's an APOC and DOFP like saga. APOC's WW (544) was close to DOFP's OS (514).
aabattery
I really wouldn't have called Kong over this at the start of the year. But here we are.

Kong will will all round it seems, OW 61 vs 56.5 Dom 168 vs 150-155 (2.7-2.75x) OS 398 vs 350-370 (Guessing 250-270 OS-China + 90 odd China) WW 566 vs 500-525 Edited July 17, 2017 by a2knet
Brainbug
Its still a hit for Fox, this is were the 150M budget in comparion with Kongs 185M or Dawns 170M comes into play. And @a2knet youre right Rise did a bit better than First Class, but Dawn and DoFP were very close and War does have a shot at matching
zackzack
I think the word "War" is a major deterrent for moviegoers, even for fans of the first 2. Rise is about escape and Dawn is about struggle. War implies active participation in aggressive behaviour. Nobody likes a warring ape clan, Dawn is against that idea. And War against humans, even though it is "bad" humans, make for a rather dark & depressing story for GA and casual fans looking for fun & lighter fares. vc2002
Man this looks sad. Terrible to see such a good trilogy ending this poorly boxoffice-wise. Edited July 23, 2017 by vc2002
