Moana made $13,507,512 on Sunday, a 36.7% drop from Saturday. That's amazing! All other comparable movies had bigger Sunday drops:

 

The Good Dinosaur: 38.8% drop

Penguins of Madagascar: 42.7% drop

Frozen: 40% drop

Rise of the Guardians: 41.1% drop

 

Not to mention the mere 2.1% Saturday drop from Friday.

That's great!  The demographic for my school is 9/10 - 14/15 and ranges from 6th-8th grade.  Everyone knows how much of a Disney fanatic I am and asked me how it good it was and of course I said it was amazing!  I'm going with 4 other people to go see it again this Saturday and that'll hopefully solidify its place in the Top 5 of Disney Revival's best films!

They're thinking, "Hey, Frozen and Zootopia bucked the trend. Obviously Moana will break out as well!"

 

But if Moana reaches say, $290m dom, that alone would be an overperformance. It would be the 2nd biggest Thanksgiving multiplier since A Bug's Life.

Also consider the fact that Frozen and Zootopia both had no direct competition for over a month of their runs, whereas Moana will face Sing relatively soon.
