Jake Gittes
Lots of love for Nocturnal Animals without a Best Film nomination. ATJ got another boost, can't really argue with his presence now. Good for him. Lmao at Emily Blunt.
DeeCee
To much love for Nocturnal Animals.
stripe
11 noms for La La Land 9 noms for Nocturnal Animals 9 noms for Arrival 6 noms for Manchester by the sea, Hacksaw Ridge, I Daniel Blake 5 noms for Fantastic Beasts, Lion 4 noms for Moonlight, Florence Foster Jenkins 3 for Hell or high water, Jackie, Doctor Strange ..... 1 nom for Fences Biggest boost: Nocturnal Animals. Runner-up Arrival. Most worrying lack of strength: Fences. Runner-up Hidden Figures (came too late, probably) Completely ignored: Silence (was it eligible?), Sully and Loving Surprising nom: Emily Blunt. Runner-up Jake Gyllenhaal Surprising snub: Isabelle Huppert. Runner-up Denzel Washington British flair not to be seen at Oscars: I Daniel Blake will leave a spot for something else Most obvious film too US flavored for BAFTAs: Hell or High Water. Runner-up Hacksaw Ridge Edited January 10, 2017 by stripe
BirdMan
Barry Jenkins isn't nominated , Denzel too Mortensen hype is getting stronger by the day

stripe
Jenkins is in. It's going to replace I, Daniel Blake director. I would say HR or Nocturnal Animals would have replaced I Daniel Blake as BP nominees. Now that both the Globes and BAFTA have shown a strong support to Tom Ford (without a BP nom), can we expect at least a BD nom for Tom Ford ala Foxcatcher? Speaking of Emily Blunt, she's been already in two of the three strongest precursors (SAG / BAFTA). Maybe we are lowballing her chances... WrathOfHan
Academy Awards Winner Aaron Taylor Johnson? The BAFTAs didn't care for Fences too much.

BAFTAs are racist. Not even trolling. Or they hate black americans at least. They snubbed Barry Jenkins too. They've only nominated like 3 black men in the leading actor category in 40 years. Denzel has never been nominated for a bafta but has 6 oscar nominations and 2 wins lmao! Morgan Freeman has never been nominated either and he has 5 oscar nominations lol. They loved Sidney Poitier like 50 years ago but that was a long time ago. Edited January 10, 2017 by ban1o
Nova
Some of these nominations are straight up laughable. Emily Blunt? But no Denzel. Ok.
Gamb1993
The BAFTAs should really bring back separate British and Foreign acting categories. Blunt was the best part of Girl on a Train by far, but Best Actress nom worthy? Probably not. It's clear the BAFTAs have a bias to British actors anyhow, just make it a formal split IMO. All about Eve
I really dislike the word 'racist' being over-used and misused. Especially in the context of awards. People vote for what they like on an individual basis from what is available. It's a personal choice. They don't sit around in a sinister committee deciding they won't nominate someone because he's a black American. i've followed the Baftas for many years and I've seen (and personally known) people of South Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and other backgrounds get their careers off the ground due to recognition at the BAFTA film and television awards.
filmlover
LOL ATJ really is becoming a thing, isn't he? Imagine if he wins...
The Panda
BAFTAS consistently miss 1 or 2 nominations in most categories. So I expect less Nocturnal Animals, Fanastic Beasts, and I, Daniel Break. Plus, Blunt isn't happening. Lol. However, I do think Nocturnal Animals along with Ford and ATJ have a decent shot at getting in now. Surprising. I think Fences and Hidden Figures will get more Oscar love. Silence is dead unless it can get some guilds.
The Panda
La La Land is for sure though looking at 13-15 Oscar nominations, depending on if it gets in for Song 1, 2 or 3 times.

Ezen Baklattan
Arrival's in very good shape, unless it gets snubbed at the PGA awards, it's definitely getting nominated for Best Picture.
