It actually almost killed Korean cinema as an international entity. IT was that big of a disaster. (and his follow up, (The Last Godfather) is somehow even worse. It has Jay from Jay and silent Bob as a Mafia heavy and Harvey Keitel is doing his worst Marlon Brando impression

It's ok for me, not bad, but I still think people would enjoy seeing it so I agree with you there. I just think the main character/real guy (not the actor) was kind of a douche so it kind of took it down a level for me. But overall, yeah still pretty good.

This is one of the best movies out there where you get to curse the main character throughout a big part of the movie, it's part of the fun. I really enjoyed it. Jake Gittes
I remember Into the Wild being pretty myopic. If I were feeling charitable I'd say it's trying to do that Scorsese thing of placing you inside the protagonist's headspace to make you understand how he sees himself, but in the end it just romanticizes him and nothing more. I haven't seen it since 2008 or 2009 though.
aabattery
I read the book of Into the Wild but not the film. I enjoyed it though. Wasn't as good as Krakauer's Everest book but definitely an interesting read.
