Haven't seen it. A brainless '80s machismo action film is an easy no for me.

You really should broaden your horizons, I like all the genres, it's a wonderful thing to do and you appreciate more movies that way, and I am actually not a huge action fan and I loved it. I also used to hate horror films and then about two years ago I decided to start watching them and now I love them.

I watch action movies all the time, so I don't know where this "broaden your horizons" nonsense is coming from.

Au Revoir Les Efants was heartbreaking. It took a while to get going, but once it did it was pretty engrossing. I liked how the school headmaster wasn't depicted as an All-Around Great Person, but as someone whose  strict views and severe actions — as well-intetioned as they may have been — pushed people away, ultimately causing the boys to be taken away.

Saw all the movies on Tele's list - just a couple that I saw that year that I also liked:

Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke, Robert DeNiro & Lisa Bonet

Tin Men with Richard Dreyfuss & Danny DeVito

The Believers with Martin Sheen

The Big Easy with Dennis Quaid & Ellen Barkin

Barfly with Mickey Rourke & Faye Dunaway - this one stuck with me - so different

Baby Boom with Diane Keaton & Sam Shephard

Wish You Were Here - British film set during WWII

And just a little trivia - was trying to get home from work - had to walk thru Times Square - it was a madhouse - was the premiere for Who's That Girl - saw Madonna.

Ooh, I love The Big Easy but for some reason thought that was 1986.

My current list is currently pretty dire. Haven't got in as much as I'd like so far. Gonna try get in Empire of the Sun, Extreme Prejudice, Radio Days and The Last Emperor this week.

Do I bother with the extended cut of Emperor, or should I just go theatrical?

I only saw the extended version so I have no idea what was cut, but I really liked all of it so I'm glad I saw all of it. Keep in mind though that I tend to like these really long films and not everyone is like that.

I want to watch it, I think my family owns it and it's somewhere around here.

Just watched the entire Evil Dead Trilogy last night, they were all great, I actually think Army of Darkness may have been my favorite though.
