Well, yeah. This is completely consistent with the sales reports Deep Wang has been providing. SMH picked up huge on Wednesday and Thursday, Thor's final number will depend on how closely it can also bump with respect to SMH.

Where has Deep Wang Thor and JL opening too ?

Is JL doing good in Presales ?

So if Thor doesn’t have the same surge it may fall about 5-10mil short of SM:HC?

At this point,  I can't see Thor just barely passing WW's OW.  With these reviews and the amount of showtimes in my area, this is most likely opening either around or higher than SMH.

What I have noticed about MCU films is they tend to track higher than the previous but opens less.

I will not be shocked if Thor falls short imo.

Hmm  I kinda agree with that.  Looking at my data,  it seems that DC are grossing higher per showtimes than MCU.  It might also be that MCU is more popular where I live and requires more shows than DC.  The next few weeks are going to be very intense for BO.

Fandango reserved seating right now in late late afternoon is selling like shit right now.  It's Halloween, World Series Game 6 is on, and movies cost $5.50.  I think we will get normal Tuesday increases for everything except horror movies which should double Monday's number.  I just do not see anything special for Halloween-related movies that would cause anything to blow up beyond doubling Mondays number, which is, in fact, still less than last Friday's number.

You were right, these increases below what I expected.  Perhaps the low priced tickets worked against the numbers this time

Based on everywhere I look I can't imagine Mom's being much over 3M today.

Thor on the other hand is selling like crazy (I'm looking at Canadian theatres) to the point where I think 12-14M previews is certainly possible.

I see no rush at all for Bad Moms when its primary audience is adult women, who won't have time to see it during the week. The weekend should make up 80% or more of its 5-day opening.

Bad Moms did incredibly well during weekdays throughout its run. I think it is likely to have a pretty strong Thursday as well.

24 hours out for Thor 3 and sold 100 tickets over the past 24 hours and should pick up even more!

MOE is doing good for a week out. Should get solid walk-ups.

Justice League is doing fine and basically on par with Thor 3 at the same point. It sold 18 tickets over the past 24 hours.

Thor: Ragnarok 511 1,740 29.4%
Daddy's Home 2 2 234 0.9%
Murder on the Orient Express 24 234 10.3%
Justice League 151 1,216 12.4%
Wonder 2 156 1.3%

Any PS update from Deep Wang?

Rolling Thunder who works at a multiplex reported this.

Quote

Fandango reported Thor is outselling SM:H but that's not what we have here. We're between Dr. Strange and SM:H, suggesting an opening closer to $100m than $120m, IMO.

As of right now at my locals...updating from previously posted #s from Thursday afternoon (aka 48 hours ago)...

1st local Thursday previews - this local has JL flying high
Thor 4 shows - 2 3d 57/90 (up 7), 11/90 (dropped 2 which is weird), 2 2d 94/125 (same), 57/125 (up 1)
JL 4 shows - 2 3d 54/90 (up 18), 9/90 (up 6), 2 2d 93/165 (up 15), 81/165 (up 26)

Total Thor 3d 68/180 (up 5)
Total Thor 2d 151/250 (up 1)

Total Thor 219/430 (up 6)

Total JL 3d 63/180 (up 24)
Total JL 2d 174/330 (up 41)

Total JL 237/510 (up 65)

So, this theater's Thursday previews has JL outselling Thor right now - I expect it to add an additional JL screen by OW if not sooner...I don't believe my 2nd local is that good (although it already has JL in an extra screen), but I'm gonna tally it up now to give some idea of multiple theaters and chains actual numbers and edit it onto this post...

2nd local sales for all Thursday previews as of RIGHT now...

Thor 4 shows (2 3d, 2 2d) 3d 8/175 (same), 2/185 (same)  2d 89/175 (up 2), 74/185 (up 18)
JL 6 shows (2 3d, 4 2d) 3d 12/110 (up 2), 0/110 (same) 2d 14/185 (up 3), 31/175 (same), 5/185 (up 4), 2/175 (same)

Thor 3d 10/360 (same)
Thor 2d 163/360 (up 20)

Total Thor 173/720 (Up 20)

JL 3d 12/220 (up 2)
JL 2d 52/720 (up 7)

Total JL 64/940 (up 9)

So, 2 stories from 2 chains (Regal and Cinemark, if you're wondering:) - Regal site JL is already outselling Thor, while the Cinemark site has a ways to go.  If you put them together, here's the numbers:)...

Total Thor 392/1150

Total JL 301/1450

Okay, so updating my 2 locals...1st added 1 show and 2nd added 2, so here's the current sales...the increases are from Sunday sales with all new shows total increases

2nd local Thursday previews

Thor (2 3d, 4 2d) 3d 21/175 (up 13), 4/185 (up 2)  2d 129/175 (up 40), 115/185 (up 41), NEW 2d Shows 41/125, 21/60

Total Thor 2d (across both theaters) 539/710
