All of us are pretty high on Baby Driver right now but let me just take a minute and say that I would not be shocked in the slightest bit of DM3 opened to $100M+. Its discount Tuesday and that fucker is on MT and Pulse.

NOS is pushing it so hard I have to assume they payed a fortune for the rights. There is no way it doesn't become a hit here.

Oh, interesting indeed. Now watch it become more successful than Dunkirk in the Bizarro World that is our country :insane:

My theater has posted their schedule for the weekend: Despicable Me 3 on 4 screens, Baby Driver on 2 screens, The House, and The Beguiled. The six big houses featuring the balconies go to 2 screens for Despicable Me 3, both screens for Baby Driver, The House, and The Beguiled. Baby Driver getting both its screens in the bigger auditoriums is a huge sign of confidence, hopefully it pays off.

C'mon, Baby Driver. I put 150 casino points on your ass. Don't let me down.

Holy shit. I've been waiting for a film to break 4,500 theaters since The Dark Knight Rises.

Anyone know why animated kids films always get such wide releases?

Because they're the most inoffensive Hollywood movies the uptight independent religious theater owners can show?  I don't know.

I think I read someone saying one time that some theater inside some outlet mall and other building (say IMAX attached to a city museum) that can only play PG/G movie ?

The same reason they keep them longer on avg than other films.  CONCESSIONS.

With all the stinkers and under performers released in the last month save WW there are a lot of screens available so the time is ripe for an animated film to take the record

That makes sense to me. I would expect Toy Story 4 will probably be the film to break this record, then.
