So my post talking about Fate of the Furious numbers and talking about Alien Covenant and how its WOM was harsh but might improve given time was deleted just cause I compared it to a certain movie?

Very harsh and unnecessary imho.

Yeah, I agree w/that. I said Apocalypse numbers referring only to OW, but it'll have better legs for sure. Maybe Kong legs, assuming it co-exists w/Wonder Woman like Logan and Kong did?

I think it can hold okay. After Wonder Woman for the next two weeks we don't have much and Father's Day and Cars 3 opening should give it a big help

I guess customers will just never change. Yesterday, I had someone get mad at me because they couldn't get the Tuesday deal.

"Um... It's Saturday"

"well that's still fucking stupid"

Looks like the Saturday increases were slightly muted this week for both holdovers and new releases.

Isn't that the norm for memorial weekend. Last year only Zootopia had 71% saturday increase. This year Beast is the only one with big jump. All others are in line.

Guardians V2 keeps holding on like a beast. It beat the original in 4 weeks, despite being a sequel (thus, worse legs) and having much stiffer competition. Marvel just cannot comprehend the word "loss".

Alien proves that if Rotten Tomatoes and critics have any influence, it's opening weekend only (like a good marketing campaign, which is what ultimately good reviews come down to when it comes to the general audience - good marketing, and that's it), cause legs don't matter for shit. It's the Spielberg theory - the marketing team sells OW, the director sells the legs.

Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 gratuitous payload check: $333M domestic, $450M int'l, $783M worldwide.

I love that this might reach 400M dom after all, completely deserving.

What's the range for the Worldwide number? Around 900M? I remember people talking during its OW how it might not even reach 750M WW or something. Nice to see it really did break out.

don't think it will reach 400m. Next week will drop hard thanks to Wonder Woman and post Memorial Day. High 300s is still great
