Alternatively it could follow MoS (which it has done so far - albiet better slightly). It had a similar drop this weekend. That fell 49% in its 4th weekend. I guess the coming weekend will show if it is following Antman/Minions or MoS legs.

Legs seems similar to MOS until you consider the 12m headstart MOS had on official Thu (not previews Thu),

MOS: 12 Thu + 116.6 OW (including Thu previews) + 119.0 next 14 days = 248.6 cume by 3rd weekend

SMH:  0 Thu  + 117.0 OW (including Thu previews) + 134.9 next 14 days = 251.9 cume by 3rd weekend

So far it's pretty much followed CA:TFA (accounting for SMHC having much higher Thur previews) and it's 3rd w/e was 44.6%

It's also not that far off SM2's 3rd w/e of $24.75m and a 45.2% drop against about $30m less in new competition. It had a 39% drop the following week against much stronger competition than SMHC will have.

Wow. Inception was a WOM monster.

Wonder Woman-level indeed.

American Sniper probably deserves consideration for any list like this.

AHHH, UP. The first 10mn of UP is the best thing happened in the movie history. I dont understand why Disney didnt push it past $300M? One of Pixar's jewels,

That's a solid comp. One of the best original runs for Pixar. Only behind Nemo and IO I believe...

Am nitpicking here, but will add that mid July weekdays steal more from weekends than early June, and animation is a leggier medium, so Inception not showing bigger drops in the first 2-3 weekends is more impressive.

I just me but i think JW run was more impressive because it came out of nowhere. The Avengers was a highly anticipated SH event movie so it was expected to do great numbers.

Avengers was looking at $150M OW a few days before release and only some thought over DH2, and became the first movie to open over $200M and the highest grossing superhero movie ever along with yanking the number #3 domestically and as the highest non James Cameron movie both domestic and worldwide. Until JW and SWTFA. JW I'd say would be number 7.

JW was tracking much lower than 150 and pulled a better multiplier with stiff competition from Inside Out for family audiences.

JW was coming from a franchise that already had two films with OW record. Avengers was much more impressive.

Eh... Pretty equally impressive. The two most impressive summer blockbusters since Dark Knight. Looking forward to the next summer when we actually see mammoth breakout like Spider-man, Pirates 2, Shrek 2, Dark Knight, Avengers or Jurassic World. Wonder Woman's a great story and the legs are outstanding but it's not remotely close to the admissions of the aforementioned. Pretty sure all of 'em adjust to at least $220M more than Wonder Woman will finish with DOM.

I'd argue Dory (to a lesser extent) and WW were impressive summer blockbusters
