At the theater to see Hitman's Bodyguard and the biggest theater is getting Spider-Man and the other biggest theater is sharing THB and Tulip Fever.  Talk about a slow weekend.

One of the two biggest films of the Summer is getting the biggest theater. It's only fair.

Smurfs: Lost Village opened to $11.2m in China and did $25.6m. Cars3 right now is on ~$18m (after Friday) in China and could end below Smurfs.

 

Cars2 did $32.5m in Germany and Italy combined. Cars3 could do $15-20m I guess form those two markets.

 

So rest of China, Germany and Italy could bring $30m more for Cars3 and ~$2m dom.

 

325.35 + 30 + 2 =  357.5 ww

 

Don't know what's trickling in from OS-China-German-Italy but look like 360 ww at most.

Why would any studio schedule something here to get rekt by It a week later? There is also the fact that last weekend was death as well because of the fight.

It's Labor Day weekend, man. The industry is distracted by the Venice/Telluride festivals and everyone else is enjoying the end of summer.

What a ridiculous hold for Annabelle.  I do not think it is going to hold as well as my model or any others models indicate.  It will probably be closer to 6.5 million rather than 7 million.  I do not think it will make it to 100M though.  I was looking at 95M by the Thursday It opens up as being the magic number for Annabelle to get to 100M.  I do not think it will do more than 5 million once It opens.  It seems it will be at 92 tops by the time It opens
