Winnie the Pooh has become a staple..something which has a steady year in year out sales. Yes, it not going to do as well as the latest "Hot" franchise. But it has longetivity and a steady profit.......something which is still up in the air for a lot of the currently "Big" franchises, and something which every company wants. I think the problem is a lot of people here don't get that not everything has to work like a CBM or SCI fi franchise to be successful. I think people are also blinded by what is big today and don't take a long view. Edited August 3, 2018 by dudalb

TalismanRing
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/christopher-robin-refused-china-release-winnie-pooh-crackdown-1131907 Disney’s 'Christopher Robin' Won't Get China Release Amid Pooh Crackdown (Exclusive) Quote No reason was given for the denial, but a source pinned the blame on China's crackdown on images of the Winnie the Pooh character, which is featured in a central role in Christopher Robin. Last summer, authorities began blocking pictures of Winnie the Pooh on social media given that the character has become a symbol of the resistance in China with foes of the ruling Communist Party, namely Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Bloggers have drawn comparisons between the pudgy bear and Xi, which has put the country's censors in overdrive. In June, Chinese authorities blocked HBO after Last Week Tonight host John Oliver mocked Xi's sensitivity over being compared to Winnie the Pooh. But an insider counters that the decision likely has to do with the size and scope of the film given the foreign film quota and the fact that there are several new Hollywood tentpoles in the Chinese market right now. Sorry but Disney ran out of money after funding the critics for BP and IW. Thats why Solo wasn't 90 percent. They couldn't afford to dish out the big bucks and they've completely ran out of cash flows after Incredibles 2 hence AMATW's subpar 88 percent score.

Hard to imagine a more harm free project that would invoke less strong reaction than a Winnie the Pooh - Christopher Robin family movie....

It's bizarre to see so many people take literal enjoyment out of Christopher Robin failing just because some people dared to overpredict it

They are for a movie that is this easy to produce. This should have been Incredibles numbers on RT. Instead it's horror remake territory. SteveJaros
A-listed this Friday and glad I did. Very enjoyable movie. Thought it might be slow and boring but was neither, Ewan was a fine CR, Agent Carter was a fetching English Rose, and the animated animals were spot on. Fun for the family.
