I think people are really underestimating the Han Solo movie for some reason.  Sure it's a different person playing him, but it's Han Solo, one of the most beloved characters ever.

Yeh, Stranger Things 2 is an event and there hasn’t been an event since IT. Even with Thor already playing here for 6 days.

It's GOT big. Netflix has said it's their most watched show in the past IIRC.

What no? I mean who wouldn’t be excited to see another Saw movie, another Madea movie, Mister Police, or Weather Destruction Porn. They appeal to everyone.

Games have no effect unless they are GTA V big. Nobody gives a shit about Assassin's Creed anymore, Super Mario is only available in a console and Wolfenstein 2 won't be big enough. Stranger Things 2 probably had an effect, tho.

On google trending it actually is way below the spikes seen on individual GoT episodes and is a bit above spike seen with the Walking Dead episode last weekend.  I think that suggests Stranger Things popularity is not as high as people think as this is a spike from literally 9 episodes at once vs individual episodes

Even if you believe Netflix (and there is almost no way to check, only one company has tried), their audience is smaller than the average network show. The effect of those Netflix series on the box office is vastly over-estimated.

Something awesome to report from Friday numbers:

 

A small Christian film called 'Let There Be Light" had a PTA of $1,639 in 373 theaters.

 

Meanwhile, Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween had a PTA of $1,101 in 2,388 theaters.

 

A small success is a success nonetheless. Here's hoping Let There Be Light can somehow edge its way into the weekend top 10!
