WEEKEND Thread | 'Jigsaw' -16.2M; TYFYS- 3.7M; Suburbicon- 2.8M

Recommended Posts

Yeah, the 8th movie of a franchise managed to make 16 million this weekend. It's still good.

I remember how boxoffice predicted the movie to finish its domestic run with 21 million. It made 16 million for its opening weekend. So, it'll perform fine. Add overseas numbers and it'll be better.

Bring it on JIIgsaw next year! :)

SMH? Didn't that won his OW?

?

Hitman's Bodyguard won three weekends in a row, and now they have Jigsaw and Boo 2 winning back to back.

Also, they did want to relaunch the franchise, and even if a sequel isn't 100% guaranteed, they'll probably move forward with a second one and just drop the budget to $5M or so and take the profit from it.  Lionsgate execs are not gonna lose sleep over this.

They clearly wanted to relaunch the franchise. If these numbers were good, they would have kept going after Saw 6.

Mighty Waititi.

They're only referring to the last 11 weeks; Sony had SMH and TDT, and Paramount had T5.

Wow this is terrible. Melissa Leo's nomination chances are completely DOA.

Between this, Goodbye Christopher Robin, and Breathe all foundering in limited release (plus Stronger and Battle of the Sexes not gaining traction in wide release), it's becoming increasingly evident that if you aren't an immediate Oscar player, you are SOL. Movies like Three Billboards, Call Me by Your Name, The Shape of Water, etc. are all actual players in the awards race and their grosses will reflect that.

Watch A Ghost Story.

If you want to watch Rooney Mara eat a pie for 10 minutes, sure.

That movie just collapsed under it's own pretentiousness, and I was on board with the thing for half of it.

And the guy at the party rambling on and on and on and on....just awful.

Divide that by 10 and you’ll get the true total. @TwoMisfits is stanning for it to outgross Coco 😉

Hey, I need a bigger miss than Baywatch on my portfolio...plus, who doesn't want a Christmas movie to work in the Christmas season in a year with such crummy animated concepts:)...so, I'll stick to this one til it blows up like Baywatch did, and enjoy my 2nd big time miss of the year:)...be funny if it's within $75M of Coco's DOM box office though:)...especially with their wildly different budgets!

But thanks to exchange rates, that is lower than Thor 2 in USD. That one opened to 109.4M in 2013.

Same markets though?

TDW also did not have good legs.  I expect Thor 3's to be better and at least as good as GOTG2  ($473m O/S) or Dr Strange's ($445m) which it out opened
