It's probably the only distinguishing trait of Venom. You gotta tease something people actually care about

 

This feels like Sony trying to hype up Venom has a big event when it has an extreme amount of question marks tied to it. If they're expecting this to be big just because of Tom Hardy, I've got bad news.

Pretty much, without a shot of the costume the teaser looks like Hardy is being chased by something and is angry (tbf that is probably default Hardy anyway).

 

Not an effective teaser to build hype.

Would have liked a costume reveal though. It is an okay teaser.

Yeah, I only watched the teaser to see at least a GLIMPSE of Venom since they've shown nothing.   I'm not that hyped for the film to begin with because ... well, it's a Venom movie, but Sony didn't even give me any reason to get excited. 

 

Sorry, just don't know what they expect to achieve with this when it is seen at Black Panther.  Tom Hardy isn't some insanely huge draw that you can just not promote the character and sell the movie.

Furthermore, the character is pretty unknown to the casual audience. This is going to leave no impression on them, especially when it can't even be bothered to tell them what the title of the film is lol. Or some of the GA will think it's actually some movie called "V" when it plays in theaters.

That teaser didn't exactly wow me I'll admit (looks standard), I thought it was fine for what it was. I'm down for "over the top accented" Hardy however. Hopefully the next trailer actually has more Venom in it though.

As a teaser, it showed off the tone of the film, and it looks alright, I guess. But it looked pretty generic, if you ask me. Will have to wait for something else to judge more properly.

The lesson I've learned today. When selling your superhero movie, show nothing of the superhero, and make it look like a generic ass thriller.
