^ Was just about to post that. "Jason Reitman takes over his father’s franchise and immediately tanks it with a tonally misjudged blend of pandering fan service and bizarrely played-straight spectacle"

Looks like you either buy into the lack of comedy or you don't.

A lack of comedy in a "Ghostbusters just makes no sense. It's spoofing supernatural thrillers, not trying to be seriout take on one.

Not really. if it was their Star wars, they would not have put it on ice for  25 years.

But if they are trying to actually go serious with it in the upcoming movie, that is a huge, huge, mistake.

I said it was the closest thing they have. I didn’t say it was anywhere near the level of Star Wars. As a side note, Ghostbusters 3 was in development for years. It wasn’t until Harold Ramis’ passing that Sony (initially) gave up on that.

The difference is that Sony doesn’t own Spider-Man outright. They don’t profit off any of the merchandise. In that sense, Ghostbusters is their closest equivalent.

Which says something about SONY's lack of franchises.....

Found the first batch of showtimes for this locally (4pm previews on 11/18).

If scheduling is starting to drop in, tickets will probs be on sale soon-ish. Within a week or so, I would think.

11/1 per EC.

Fair enuf.  One of my locals must have decided to schedule some shows super early for some reason or another.

The marshmallow men scene in Wal-Mart had a crowd of a few thousand rolling for a solid 5 minutes.

Saying there is no comedy in this movie is flat out wrong and insane.

The trailers have kept the comedy out of it.

But you're saying it is funny so that makes me very excited to see it now.

I don't think it's supposed to be a comedy though. And given how the last one turned out that's probably a good thing.

Which, for a Ghostbusters film, makes  no sense. It's a comedy franchise.  It's like trying to make a "Vacation" film into a serious drama.
