No no I mean the actual horror community outside of BOT lol: bloody disgusting, twitter, shockwaves, Blumhouse podcasts, Facebook groups etc.

Plus, there’s only about 3 horror fans left on this forum now 😂

Wait, our group is up to 3 now? I disappear for a few weeks and this is what happens?  😛

Yeah, same shills that were pimping it on all those places plus 4chan. It's funny how shilling on 4chan died with its boxoffice. It just shows that social media cannot be trusted for it's the same few people posting under different names (and sometimes same names) on different platforms. Creates illusion of bigger numbers when it's actualyl just few die-hards posting over and over.

But on the positive side, it's a win for Queen Toni. Her movie made 27M by the end of the second weekend with less time in theaters (opened Friday vs sophomore slump's Wednesday). :Gaga:

even you've gotta admit that your obsession w/ hating on this movie you'll never see is pretty weird.

Futurist vs. anything not by Disney or Valonqar vs. anything, really. Pick your poison.

It's like an even worse version of Alien vs. Predator ("whoever wins, we lose.") and that's saying something.

In addition to the conferences on Folk Horror and the macabre coming up that are going to place Midsommer front and centre.

Not much is going to be written about Annabelle, people will be studying Midsommer for years, nay decades.

And it's a movie with a budget of less than $10m that's going to make over $20m at the US box office. It's fine thanks.

It's not. I wouldn't care less if it wasn't shilled so OTT. It felt like someone is trying way too hard to sell this as an event, watercooler topic or whatever when it was not. It's simply the discrepancy between low actual interest in it and disproportional Internet push. In the end, it ended up with significantly lower MC score (73 to Hereditary's 87), significantly worse boxoffice on the same low budget (Hereditary was at 27M after this weekend and it didn't have 2 more days advantage like this movie which opened on Wednesday) and even Audience RT is 61 from verified ratings (which you bet are mostly Asteroids) while Hereditary's is 65 from many unverified ratings so it obviously played better with audience that isn't necessary into this kind of horror.

But that is just social media, period. Even when it is authentic, it's still a very tiny percentage of the possible audience.... even tinier when you consider the number of people who are mostly doing all the talking.... Less than 1 percent of the people on social media are responsible for steering all the conversations on it, and yet everyone is looking at that 1 percent as if it's a solid representation of what "the people" are really thinking. A thing gets 20 thousand retweets and people call that blowing up... but if that same 20 thousand people watch a youtube video that video might as well not even exist. If a show on netflix only got 20 thousand streams on its opening day they would cancel it the next weekend.... but for some reason someone can scream racist garbage on twitter and get 20 thousand retweets and next thing you know he's in the White House because the news sites have all believed since the 1990's that their stories only exist in response to what the comments says about them... So of course all they do is look at social media and turn 1 percent into the whole world.

It makes box office number chasing seem sane and orderly in comparison.... and that is sort of disturbing considering how many people in here believe in stuff like "shilling" and critic conspiracies.

Get Ari Aster to do one of those Transformers spin-offs. Get Ansolo & Pugh as the leads. End of times.

You really shouldn't take 4chan seriously. Disregard them.

and @Krissykins my point is that they were so desperate to create buzz they even shilled on 4chan. It's very easy to see when something is shilled over there and when something is just shitposted. It was a shill-a-thon.

i mean not really. you're acting like this movie is everywhere. it really isn't. maybe in the bubble of whatever sites you spend your time on everyone's talking about it but that's between you and god. if your problem with the movie is that you see too many posts on 4chan about it then... that's definitely a you problem.

Or a Bumblebee spin-off starring his other enemy Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

What a weird guy to hate on, lmao. His body of work is so small, and he hasn't even been bad in any of it.
