John Marston
Do movies in UK open on Thursday or Friday? For IW for example on Box office mojo it says it opened on Thursday but If you click on it it shows a 3 day opening

Friday is the norm, but they'll open pretty much anything on any day of the week now.
PhilipJ2001
Yeah Friday is the 'official' opening day but most films get a day or two of 'previews'. Oceans 8 is going to open on a Monday. Pretty decent for Avengers considering the weather. We've done well at my cinema on Sherlock Gnomes as well (again considering the weather). I Feel Pretty has been quiet

I Feel Pretty has been quiet That's odd actually, because I Feel Pretty has done pretty well at my theatre, whereas Gnomes is slacking behind. I just assumed all the kids were out enjoying the sunshine during the day, then too late for them to go in the evening.

Heretic
Don't know about other places but my local cinema is looking pretty dead today. There's about 20 people in the 1pm showing of IW. Don't know who would want to go to the cinema on a day like this though..
Krissykins
So it was down 62.5%? Its hard to judge with these silly “opening weekends” that in this case included Wednesday night previews and the full opening day on Thursday. Deadpool opens on a Tuesday lol

I Feel Pretty has been quiet Ocean’s 8 opening on a Monday is interesting considering WB rarely opens does week long previews, I’m guessing taking advantage of the fact they’re pretty much the only big film during the World Cup apart from Jurassic World

Jonwo
It'll be interesting how Deadpool 2 does, I think £15-16m for the six days wouldn't surprise me but it might go a tad higher
