The Dark Alfred
Netflix really missed the boat with GLASS ONION. They left 500m WW on the table easily. Would have done 20m+ over the holidays in the UK, maybe even 30m.

The Dark Alfred
450m without China easily. Would have been a much better Xmas for domestic and international market and a perfect counterprogramming to A2. Seems extraordinary. I loved Matilda, but it shouldn't have 8 showings having been out this long. Puss seems like obvious good Christmas programming. And I suspect the audience would have welcomed a counter programmed horror film a lot more than Whitney at this time of year.

A recent film called The School for Good and Evil did 79m. Edited December 28, 2022 by Krissykins

UK market is quite leggy generally. Maybe 1.5x that seems reasonable. Definitely not x2 though.

Regardless of how it normally is, right now there is NOTHING ELSE OUT. It's Whitney (very limited pull in the UK), Matilda (which has already been out over a month and family audiences have already seen) and Avatar. Puss, for reasons beyond anyone, isn't released here until February. Violent Night and BP2 have been pulled near everywhere. Most Oscar contenders yet to be released aren't until at least mid Jan. Otto's not out until 7th Jan. Babylon and Fablemans not till late Jan. Avatar 2 has just been handed an absolute runway. An absolute runway. I had no plans to watch it, but I'm now basically guaranteed to see it once, if not twice, just by default of wanting to go to the cinema. Krissykins
I can’t recommend the Whitney film enough. Happy to see it expanding from 5 to 8 showtimes from Friday.
