Weekend Thread: Estimates - Mal2 36, Jokah 29.2, Zombi2 26.7, Addams 16, Gemini 8.5 | Parasite 1.2 (37.6K), Lighthouse 420K (52K), Jojo 350K (70K avg)

Recommended Posts

Zombieland seems like 5.5-6, though I won't put a pin on it yet.

M2 still on path to $9.5-10mn.

Joker under 9 mostly, more like 8.75.

Parasite perhaps 350k plus

Jo Jo Rabbit don't seem will cross 75k unless some heavy evening.

Lighthouse in same range.

Next update 10 hours from now.

Fantastic for Parasite. Jojo probably then less than 50k PTA for the weekend? Damn

Also Zombieland may not crack 20M with that number

I think come Sunday Zombieland 2 is going to be in the 3rd spot while Maleficent 2 and Joker and respectively in 1st and 2nd place.

Don't know how much Mal2 will do WW (180-185M maybe?), Joker might end up in the 700s by the time Sunday hits.

From what I've seen in the Overseas threads, Joker & Maleficent 2 are both co-existing at the box office, so that's good 😁

BOM doesn't have a theater count for Lighthouse.

Anyone know? Same as JoJo Rabbit? More? Less?

Meh , I don't know how The Farewell did better.

Usually the bigger PTAs come from movies that have major awards buzz surrounding them (which The Farewell had). Looking at the top 40 opening PTAs ever the only ones among live-action titles that didn't have that going for them were Red State, Don't Think Twice, and Suspiria.

Hollywood needs to learn the lesson that, while some films become really big, only a handful warrant sequels that can actually be just as successful as their first films. Personally, I think they're learning--ever-so-slowly, but they're definitely learning.

That not always (or maybe not even commonly the goal), achieving to do 60-70% of the first one is often the target (and would be a giant success in this case).

And execution matter a lot, if a bad Jumanji remake would have failed we would be there talking about stupid it was for Sony to make the movie nobody was asking for.

Has long has not slam dunk sequel are still much more likely to work than the original, Hollywood will learn to continue to do them.
