The 2019 BOFFY Awards - Full Nominations Page 12 | Ballot Deadline February 27th

In a year where the Oscar's did a good job it makes sense that boffy would be much worse. All the best picture oscar noms are for good films but boffy replaces the great Joker and very good Jojo with the mediocre Farewell and the bad Booksmart.

Funny enough I’d personally think the exact inverse of what you said

That’s why we vote and form a somewhat consensus

Oscar is ball enough to have their thought what constitute to a best picture element, instead of like pure-critic ass-kissing.

The best picture list looked no different than just sorting the 2019's highest RT score movie list.

Apart from Us, Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Dolemite Is My Name and Pain and Glory.

All of which had higher RT scores than Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Ford V Ferrari and Uncut Gems

Or maybe gasp there’s a decent amount of people that just didn’t like Joker. Maybe BOT has a more diverse set of people than the Oscars where not all films have to be watched to nominate. Or most shocking, different in opinions.

I'm really satisfied with the nominees this year. The selected films are evidence that BOT users will seek out and celebrate the great films that are accessible to them. Thanks to trailblazing companies like A24 and Neon, films like The Farewell, Parasite, and Uncut Gems can be widely seen by film enthusiasts all around the globe. In another age, even those films could have been unjustly snubbed in favor of great films with the advantage of established studios. This year's Boffies also overtakes the Oscars in terms of diversity, as the voting body was especially apt at celebrating differences in race, gender, style, tone, thought, and presentation. Were films like Pain and Glory underseen? Perhaps. But in my opinion, in a year where there are many great films, this list of nominations does an especially good job of representing films that do what every film aspires to do--to fall between the mediator of experienced and beloved.
