Hmm, I thought there was no way that this wasn't getting more than 357M in presales?

I was referring to pesos, which it looks like to hit.

Uncharted is gonna flop, isn't it? Fucking hell Sony, why did you have to hire the director of Venom and the writing team behind TF: The Last Knight and MIB: International??? We could be looking at a strong 40M opener and now this shit is gonna open with 25M.

The video game movie genre is literally cursed, unless you're aiming strictly at an unsophisticated audience (ala Sonic or Detective Pikachu).

After Travis Knight, David O. Russel, Joe Carnahan, Dan Trachtenberg, Shaw Levi and Seth Gordon all came in, looked the room and left to do something else, I bet Sony just tossed money in the air in hopes that the first one that catch it would actually make the damn movie.

Not a bad result imo. When I counted yesterday, the ticket total was 218, literally up only 16 tickets from the day before that (😬). So all-and-all, it was a pretty decent sized jump today. Hopefully, it ends up somewhere around that average range.

Alright went ahead and did a full count of The Batman Wednesday previews at the biggest chain in two Australian states (QLD and NSW).

Wednesday night previews (153 showings) - 2255/30632

Highest percentage sold < 100 seat showing - 65.6% (21/32)

Highest percentage sold > 100 seat showing - 38.2% (105/275)

24 showings with 0 seats sold - 4874 seats (mostly regular showings)

Regular showings - 2.3% (336/14790)

PLF - 9.6% (1321/13761)

Lounge seating and dinner service -  28.7% (598/2081)

No comps since it's been a long time since I've done any count here.

Still thinking an opening in the US of around $100 million max. If Australian's coming out of restrictions that have required them to wear a mask whilst watching a movie in the cinemas and seating limitations aren't hyped up massively then I have trouble seeing the US opening being too big.

The Batman (T - 13) - Australia (QLD + NSW)

Wednesday night previews (154 showings) - 10.5% 3238/31026

Highest percentage sold < 100 seat showing - 93.8% (30/32)

Highest percentage sold > 100 seat showing - 52.7% (145/275)

17 showings with 0 seats sold - 3657 seats (mostly regular showings)

Regular showings - 3.3% (482/14796)

PLF - 13.6% (1917/14101)

Lounge seating and dinner service -  39.4% (839/2129)

Starting to look at bit better in Australia. There's still at lot of basically empty 6 PM showings that I would've expected to fill up more but I think that's probably because we've thrown so many showtimes at this due to lack of competition. Interestingly that 100+ seat showing that's 52.7% full is the only 100+ seat showing that's more than 30% full.

ADJUSTMENT NOTE: Bats (BW adj) is the amount of seats sold that does not include the theaters which had unreliable data polluting their seat maps at that point in BW's track.

PRE-SALE NOTE:  Black Widow tickets had been on sale for twelve days at this point while The Batman has been on sale for eight/six days (two days of those days were "Fan First" only ticket sales).

====

Eternals comp took a hit because this was when the news about Harry Styles broke its social media embargo was lifted. Probably continue to take a bit of a hit in the next day or so.  However, should mean a nice boost for the comp when Batsy has its social media lift.

Aside from that comment, nice enough day.  The Batman keeps on chugging along.

Just use V2 T-15, let’s beat that endgame record :sarah:
In philly, geomean of BW T-15 (35.6) and NWH D3 (15.8) is 23.7

In Sacto, geomean of BW T-15 (21.5) and NWH D3 (11.1) is 15.4.

Just massively different stories right now. I assume this is at least partially driven by the different regional MTC mixes and BW still being on 50% restrictions on MTC1?
