I don't know if this will be male-skewing (I don't know who Jo Koy is, but I'm assuming guys like him) or female-skewing comedy (it's about family! Like Crazy Rich Asians!), so I went for both. Either way...yeah, why did they put this out in August?

Still on a great pace, but we'll see if those potentially bad reviews squander the film.

I think Lost City, Crawdads and Elvis will be good comps. Basically Pitt+Bullock and two Summer films with early showings. I would have suggested Nope but that would have overindexed in Philly.

So Bullet Train will do less than 30m now?🤔 reactions were brutal.

Sandro and I have been sub 30 before reactions 👀

There’s a fair degree of regional variation and relatively scant fri info though, still a wide range for a 90% CI.

I didn't understand what you said. I just saw a tweet of someone saying the AMC seats aren't even sold .

I've got faith in Beast as a nice summer ender with a decent 18/55 run, maybe even into the 60M range. There's always a market for these kinds of "man vs. animal" movies, especially if they have a name actor attached. The Shallows did 55M in the heart of summer with a similar premise and starpower, so why not this with zilch competition until Woman King?

Fall is a dumped flop in waiting.

I've seen a number of ads for Beast over the past week and it's still more than two weeks away. Universal seems confident in it so far, if nothing else.

I agree, I think Beast could do decently. It’s an easy plot to sell/advertise. Maybe Crawl numbers if it turns out to be as good.

Definitely not much in Fall's favor, but I think there's some mild potential with Beast. Something about Idris Elba vs. a lion seems too irresistible, but maybe that's just my own weird taste talking.

I agree, eyeing low teens for Beast, but also doubt it will generate much presales before the last couple of days

The reviews for Bullet Train are alright, but nowhere near enough to entice audiences in a more picky and selective world. A world where mediocre reviews basically get you sent to "wait for streamingif you haven't faded away completely from consciousness by then" hell. I wouldn't be surprised to see it open below $30M at this point.

You knew the studio had no faith in Easter Sunday when they suddenly shifted it from its original timely early April release to August. Even if the movie wasn't going to be ready in time, they would've at least sat on it until next spring for maximum profits.

Uncharted didn't need good reviews. Nor Where The Crawdads Sing

Although Morbius would like to have a word lol.

Morbius was just too toxic. 30-40% would have been enough for a fine run.

40+ for Bullet Train?

The Tuesday early access showings here are more than Lost City but not as much as Elvis. that said, I doubt Elvis is a good comp since that was frontloaded and more fan driven. Bullet Train shouldn't be and also skews younger. I also don't remember Elvis having early showings at the Cinemark

EARLY ACCESS TUESDAY:

AMC DOLBY: (55)

CINEMARK XD: (10)

At this point, I’m dubious it makes $40M for the full first week, off a mid (maybe high) $20s OW …

Bullet Train Early Access (Final Tracking Day)

AMC DINE-IN Disney Springs 24

Tuesday Showings:

7:00 PM (Dolby Cinema): 243 Tickets sold, 86.48% of seats (281) are sold (37 New Tickets, 13.02% Increase)

Valdosta Cinemas

7:00 PM (GTX): 55 Tickets sold, 20.99% of seats (281) are sold (34 New Tickets, 161.90% Increase)

I did miss the whole Tracking Day 4 for Bullet Train and Easter Sunday since I was busy but did get a chance to count the final totals for Early Access with the following two theaters showing it.
