Ok guys, here we go again, me taking backlash for something I say.  I'm simply saying that it is illegal, immoral and just plain wrong and an over  reaction to punch Rock.  At the minimum he should have been escorted out of the auditorium.  In hockey you get five for fighting, in a bar you get kicked out.  Same with basketball and football.  Automatic ejection.  Fine, he shouldn't be arrested but he should have been escorted out as well.

There is a bit of a contradiction here, there is not that much limit what you can do to an adult male that will not press charge in term of injury less slapping in the face after they insulted someone them on the normal folks side.

 

Adults can get into a fight in the streets (or in a ring, hockey game), and from many cops points of view that all good if they wanted too and do not want to press charge after.

Yeah, you can't simply arrest someone for a slap. At least not in America. Especially when we're talking about public figures who are entertainers first and foremost. Most that will happen is an investigation, both of them will apologize, and that's it.

 

Well, not really. Smith has to know it's going to be parodied forever and will no doubt be asked to participate in a few of them for the rest of his life lol.

Even if it's technically a crime, ask yourself honestly... "Does one dude defending the honor of their Significant Other with a slap REALLY deserve being hauled off in cuffs?"

Rock's joke was painfully unfunny that he even acknowledged it after nobody laughed. Smith should have just let it die its own death. That would have been best.

We crossposted, so kinda ignore my last post.

 

But like I said, the people running the event had no idea what to do here since it was so unexpected.  Like, in hockey and bars and whatnot, it happens often enough that there is a procedure.

 

Well, there wasn't one here.

 

But I can bet you a LOT of money (say one whole dollar) that going forward there will be procedures put in place to stop this ever happening again.
