Last weekend I said something like a 63M second weekend for The Batman was possible and when I hit the submit button I was expecting that (rightfully) i would be be called out for my very optimistic prediction. The calling put didn't happen. What did happen was an even better weekend than I predicted.  Fantastic and well deserved success for this movie...

Always amazing to see this.

No holidays. -43% second weekend drop on its way to a multiplier of 4x.

It was an amazing run no one saw coming.

The greatest club in BOT history

To balance out the praise given to @Plain Old Tele, here's the worst club in BOT history

Disney said Shang-Chi, Eternals, and West Side Story would all be available to watch at home 45 days after opening day and they ended up holding back on those launches. Obviously we're talking about a different studio but clearly these "this movie will be available so many days after theaters" statements aren't set in stone unless there's a concrete date as to when they will launch to go along with them.

For Latam where they did a 35-Day strategy during second half of 2021 they where really strict about it and always delvered on that frame (+1/2 days depending on each country where releases are on Thu or Wed). Latam social media already announced Apr 17th so would look quite weird to have it released in some territories and some not. It's WB we're talking about

Looking at 'Black Panther' for inspiration, 'The Batman' 2nd weekend is very close to BP's 3rd weekend. If it follows those drops, we'd be looking at a finish around $435M. I don't expect it to hold quite that well (4x the equivalent weekend). I do think $400M is in the cards though, going 3.5x this weekend and hitting 3x overall. A major win all around.

They really missed the opportunity to give this a whole wide release and more than just one showtime day.

These kids today deserve to have their equivalent of those 3D concert movies that came out 10 years ago. I still remember going to see the Hannah Montana 3D concert movie way back in the day. Blew my 10-year-old mind away.

Jesus. You are a child. 😫

I'm probably reall stupid for asking this but what is BTS?

The big K-Pop boy band that the kids today are really into. I actually unironically jam out to their Dynamite song while I drive to work.
