They already fucked up and ruined the X-Men by refusing to recast Wolverine...... Hugh is iconic for the role but it is unrealistic to expect him to play Logan for 10 years. By bringing him back Marvel is sending a clear message that the character will not play a big part in the X-Men franchise going forward and he's just there for a short while. The refusal to recast Luke Skywalker was the exact same message from Lucasfilm.

I can't tell if you're being serious or trolling.

I don’t really pay attention to China box office. But is that $65m for opening weekend?

Total. Considering every SH movies have flopped in China this year, that's a great total.

Love Again has such a silly and convoluted premise even by romcom standards. Journalist falls for the woman who he only knows through the text messages he receives from his phone number that previously belonged to her now-deceased fiancé and tries to win her over with the help of Celine Dion (playing herself)...in what universe would any of this happen lol. No wonder Sony could never figure out how to market it and left it to die.

Didn't expect anything less from the studio that almost brought us an Aunt May spy prequel movie and Barbie vs He-Man.

Might also make more given the great WOM. I hope at least 70M when all is said and done.

17.5 from Disney

So, it is lower than Ant 3 in actuality, but Disney figures they'll just take some money from Friday.  B/c if it was a $1 higher, they'd have said $18M so they could crow it was higher...

Deadline demos for last night...https://deadline.com/2023/05/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-rocketing-to-around-14m-thursday-super-mario-bros-jumping-to-half-billion-u-s-early-box-office-1235357014/

So far it's a 65-35 male/female split, which for MCU is heavily skewed more to male than usual (this looks like a DC non-Wonder Woman skew)...

Out of the gate, Comscore/Screen Engine PostTrak scores were amazing last night with five stars, 94% positive, and an 80% recommend. Note, the fanboys and girls always come out on Thursday, but still, at least the word of mouth is getting started. The audience was made-up of 87% general audience, 13% parents and kids under 12. Kids under 12 gave the movie 4 stars, with boys making up the majority at 68%. General crowd demos were 43% guys over 25 (93% grade), 21% women over 25 (94% grade), 22% guys under 25 (95%), and 14% women under 25 (94%). The 18-34 moviegoing bunch showed up at 57%. Diversity demos for general audience counted 43% Caucasian, very strong Latino and Hispanic at 25% (a 99% grade!), Black at 16% and Asian at 8%.
