A Quiet Place comes roaring out of the gates with 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hopefully that helps move the needle a bit, but I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t let reviews out earlier. Clearly they knew they had a good film in their hands, why not get the word out sooner?!?

Because it’s a walkup heavy genre. It’s probably more impactful now that people can see the good headlines and just check it out.

It didn’t really needed as well, presales are clearly good. Unless it ended up with mediocre walkups, it should try +50M.

Big Sunday drop in tickets for A Quiet Place: Day 1 is an outlier due to Chicago Pride happening that day. It is also sunny and 74F that day so lots of people are going to be opting to be outside after this awful heat wave we had last week/weekend.

0.91x Bad Boys 4 T-1 = $5.1m

Dropped Furiosa which brought the average up. It slipped a bit vs. the others.

I'd guess closer to $5m than $6m from here but could just be underperforming in this market

A Quiet Place: Day One MTC1

Previews(T-2) - 53019/585612 1035076.71 3038 shows +8798

Friday - 45546/1171815 851430.28 6348 shows +10537

Solid day and Friday also shot up as expected. I am sticking with this movie beating expectations.

A Quiet Place: Day One MTC1

Previews(T-1) - 67698/588688 1299109.14 3065 shows +14679

Friday - 59078/1179492 1087394.68 6406 shows +13532

Great boost for T-1. With good walkups can it hit 6.5m previews. May be Volde was not far off with his 60m prediction though it seems to underperform in few markets that makes me pause.

The reviews while very solid, also said the movie is closer to an arthouse drama during most of it’s runtime than a summer blockbuster.

So maybe there’s some impact as well. But yeah i’m very confident in +50M OW

They spent 100M+ on an arthouse drama??? (obv the 67M figure is nonsense).

Is it? There’s not that much action apparently

Good for them to get the budget headlines, now they need less than 200M to be considered a success, which should get quite easily since this is probably doing 125-150M DOM

It seems that friday is around the same as Apes ( i don't have numbers).

I think with good walkups mid 50's is really possible which is great for a spin off to make more than previous ones !!!

This is something that I'm sure Furiosa didn't have, which is why we're looking at potentially the highest opening weekend for this franchise and it's a prequel film.

Expect there to debate amongst people this weekend on why A Quiet Place: Day One worked and why Furiosa didn't.

Horizon: Chapter 1 had today counted for today 91 sold tickets in 6 theaters (no shows in the AMC Fresh Meadows in NY).

And counted today for tomorrow it had 108 sold tickets (also in 6 theaters). Surprisingly it's doing ok in the AMC Metreon in San Francisco (29 and 67 sold tickets).

Comps: The Bikeriders (1.5M from previews on Thursday + other shows/9.7M OW) had 268 respectively 240 sold tickets in the same 6 theaters.

And the faith-based film Overcomer (I take it as comp due to the great walk-ups it must have had; 775k from previews/8.15M OW) had 91 respectively 34 sold tickets. You see what is possible with good walks-ups despite terrible presales.

Overall Horizon stays a mixed bag and I agree with what other members already mentioned, it was a bit frustrating to count it. This film just needs walk-ups!
