Coraline did a similar Fathom Event last year, and over the span of four days, it earned a whopping $7.1 million. It just has a lot of fans willing to see it on the big screen for whatever reason. Though granted, I'm a fan of the movie too, so I get it. Nightmare Before Christmas made $10 million that same year, albeit with a bigger rollout, so I guess spooky stop-motion is a theatrical event for some people.

The rollout seems bigger this time, and global.

It’s releasing even here in Brazil, i bought tickets to watch it this Friday and Sunday.

The screenings are all sold out, i’m super surprised with the interest. Other than Harry Potter, re-releases rarely does well here.

NYC REGAL Local (WED: 5pm)

ALIEN: ROMULUS (R): 106/1962

COMPS (R)
FURIOSA: $4.88
CIVIL WAR: $5.04
OPPENH: $5.32m
JOHN WICK 4: $6.37m
HALL: KILLS: $4.51m
DUNE I: $6.14M
The Suicide Squad: $5.63

AVG= $5.41m

COMPS  (PG-13)
Trap: $7.27m
AQP 3: $8.68m
K: POTA: $4.89m (early previews dragging the comp down)
GODZ v KK: NE: $11.04m

AVG= $7.97m

Comps dropped all around at this location - not a good jump from Tues.  Friday's sold 71 tickets.  Maybe the release of reviews will give it a kick or mean more walk-ups or late ticket buys like a PG-13 film.

Excellent final push. Would surely think $6.5M+ and has a good shot at $7M previews

Wow.

According to Deadline, Coraline which is going into 2500+ theatres this weekend has already done $3 million in pre-sales for the weekend. Fan rush certainly, but also points to pretty stellar demand. I’m quite excited to see it’s numbers over the weekend!

probably heading for low 5m, pace has been substandard

.74x A Quiet Place D1 (T-1) [5.03m]

pace really hasn’t picked up that much, I think it’s underindexing a bit, but even then I think it should do ~5.5-5.7m

Why is Coraline proving to be such a relative juggernaut 15 years after its release lol? It's almost sold out at several theaters near me.

Definitely feels like the stop motion film of this generation at least anecdotally.
