rockNrollaDIM
So how much of the increase is going to be as a result of 3D surcharges? In the long run, it looks like it will increase over IM2, but in large part as a result of 3D prices driving up the gross. I'd say that was always the sole purpose of the 3D. Thank god THG franchise has morals. Yeah, I'm going there.
The Stingray
TA - $18.7m TDKR - $30m Both were actual midnight releases though. IM3 had a lot more showtimes available at a more reasonable hour. A lot of working adults couldn't go to the Avengers at midnight but they could certainly go to IM3 at 9 PM. So midnights aren't really midnights anymore. More like Thursday evenings. Is that what you're saying? Edited May 3, 2013 by The Stingray

redfirebird2008
So Disney says $15.6m. NotFabio freaking rules, doesn't he? He said 15% behind Avengers and that is pretty much exactly where it ended up. I hope that guy never drops off the map.

Heretic
While we're waiting for more numbers....this could be looking at an OS weekend on par, or even bigger than last week, which'd mean around 500m already internationally. Mind-boggling!
redfirebird2008
So its Friday number is going to be all of Friday AND the Thursday late night showings?! Yes, that is how everyone in Hollywood has been doing it since Aurora. Doesn't seem right that IM1, AWE, MR, and others had previews carved out but everything since 7/20/2012 gets lumped in with Friday.
ladyevenstar22
well following this thread is the next best thing to actually seeing the film ughhhhh ... its seeming more and more likely i'll have to wait till saturday to see it and its killing me but i'm starting to resign myself to the fact, no point in getting worked up over it! God this country has become a bunch of pussies. If somebody wants to shoot up a movie premiere there's nothing stopping them doing at 9pm versus 12am.
