Grown Ups 2 got a B- (darn close to the C) and it had great legs, Man of Steel had an A- had shit legs (While Gravity had that same A- and had fantastic legs).

Skyfall and Breaking Dawn Part 2 both got an A cinemscore, BDP2 had shit legs, Skyfall had wonder legs.

District 9 got a B cinemascore, it had great legs, while Elysium had that same B and did worse.

X-Men Origins had an A- cinemascore, absolutely toxic word of mouth.

Bad Teacher hit 100m with a C+ cinemascore, Rango had a C+ and hit 123m (which is an atrocious score for an animated flick).

I could probably keep going on with examples of how Cinemascore is shit but it's a pain to even look them up (because they have no archives because they don't like people judging them for how bad their surveys are)

1.) Fanboy/Fangirl movies always get good cinemascore. It says nothing about their legs.

2.) Movies with limited potential may get good cinemascore but their box office ceiling is limited.

3.) Comedy and horror movies typically get low cinemascore and low scores in most polls. It says nothing about their legs.

Cinemascore is important for blockbuster type movies. Anything less than A- is horrid for a Superhero movie. Anything B or better is awesome for a horror movie. Rango didn't have great legs for an animated movie that opened to less than $40 million. There is a reason why studios use Cinemascore. You can get a lot out of it if you understand the context. A- for MOS is not the same as an A- for Conjuring.

 More new movies does not equal more competition for old ones  -_-

top 2 newcomers last year > all 5 this year

Les Mis(18.1) + Django(15) = 33.1

WoWS(9.5) + Mitty(7.5) + Ronin(6.7) + Grudge Match(4)  + Believe(1.2) = 28.9

Also, Mitty and Ronin separated by less than a million  :wtf:

Here is my guess for today's top 5Wolf 9,5Smaug 8,2Smitty 7,3Frozen 7,1Anchor 5,9

Extremely hard to predict today but here goes

Wolf                    9.5m

Smaug                8.9m

Witty                   7.7m

Ronin                  7.0m

Grudge               6.6m

American Hustle  6.0m

Anchorman 2      5.4m

Frozen                3.9m

I agree. Predicting is super hard.. But 1 thing is 100% sure..Ronin wont come close to 7 mill..If it does, beer's on me

Just wanted to say that Elysium had a slightly better multiplier than District 9.

Other than that, yeah, cinemascore doesn't mean a whole lot. Inception got a B+...

I'd say if Wolf doesn't make 10M or more, then that would have to be deemed disappointing, especially with the Scorsese/Dicaprio collaboration..

2500 theaters.

Comedy movies got low cinemascores?

Explain why movies like The Hangover gets an A, and others like This is the End, We're The Millers, The Heat, etc. get A-'s and B+'s?  Also, isn't Wolf technically a comedy?

Rango didn't have as bad of legs as come movies, and had a rather small opening anyway.  Bad Teacher also wasn't a horror movie, it had the C+ and got decent legs.

The matter of the fact is, Cinemascore statistically CAN'T be reliable, they go to a limited number of theaters (of their choosing) and pass out a limited number of cards, on the midnight release (Which does not speak for the GA opinion, which is what you're looking for).  Also, it doesn't take into account that some movies cater to different demographics and divides the demo scores somewhat evenly, so a film like Wolf is going to get piss poor reception from an old conservative, but the more younger crowd is going to eat it up.

Again, Cinemascore is worthless.

DOS increased very well

AM2's increase was insane

Frozen increased by over 30% when most said it would FALL 40%
