If China makes an exception to their potential Hollywood ban for this movie, then  would that mean that James Cameron has more clout than Kevin Feige?

James Cameron is a just a God of God of Directors. His way of directing a film, even attract the President Xi Jinping, that it will get 90 days release window. But, even if Avatar 2 manage to become the highest grossing film in Mainland China, it will still not be able to hold that record for long because more biggie films like Wandering Earth 2 and Wolf Warrior 3 will arrive at 2023. With their arrival, the record will again be held back by Local Releases.

However, your comparison with Kevin does not seem fair. I think you should have compared his direction level with Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan.

Avatar 2 won't be released in China. My personal prediction:

US & Can : $800m

UK: $130m

Germany: $120m

South Korea: $110m

France: $110m

Japan: $80m

Australia: $75m

Brazil: $70m

Mexico: $65m

Russia: $50m

Italy: $40m

Spain: $40m

Rest of World: $650m

Total OS: $1540m

Total WW: $2340m (#3 WW)

If it does somehow get a Chinese release, add in about $750m for a total above $3 billion.

3d is dead, and novelty is dead. Characters are shallow and it’s been delayed half a dozen times. Think I’m being more than fair. Not to mention china is going nuts restrictions wise lately.

This is Avatar we are talking about. The Re-release has proven otherwise

The first one took almost 10-12 years in making because of the technology and look what we have a pure masterpiece. Till 2022 December it will be 13 years and we all waited this long just because Jim didn't get what he wanted for A2 (The Technology)

Many times it has been reported by Media but people tend to forget it easily these days about News reports.

Underwater effects have always been tricky to replicate in any form - even shooting in-camera has its limitations - let alone with motion-capture, leading to major updates needed. Cameron says he's "cracked the code" on Avatar's underwater sequences, suggesting why production has now moved ahead.

In 2009 it was impossible to think this movie will ever make 2.8 billions. So, 4 billion is just normal for A2 I'll not be surprised if this makes 5B.

@aabattery @Water BottleKindly check help desk.

Messaging @Cap will probably be faster Lothar. aabattery seems to have left the forums entirely/posts VERY little. No idea why they're even still a mod.

That's not something to joke about

Not a joke. If Avatar 2 did bomb I'd be joining Lothar with a helium tank and a gas mask.

Hello. I got a message about scree rant. While it’s not the AP News it isn’t exactly a whack job site. Is there something I am missing? Otherwise, No one seems to be fighting, and no one seems to be calling each other names, so I don’t see an issue.
