But Abyss was 30 years ago, plenty of new technologies now can help to prevent a serious accident to occur.

I honestly wouldn't blame Ed Harris if he murdered James Cameron back when he was filming The Abyss. That whole production sounds like actual torture to me.

It was. Not a single person working on it had anything good to say about the actual production of the film. Back then Cameron was a real madman (he still kinda is).
