Weekend Thread. Friday Numbers: Equalizer 12.8-14.5, Box 5.6-6.8m, Maze 4 (Rth)

Recommended Posts

Just saw Equalizer. Decent, it's pretty much what you'd expect from a Denzel action movie. It isn't perfect, but it's entertaining. The action is well done, and the "end fight/climax battle" was a lot of fun. And Denzel is obviously great.

The people in my theatre seemed to really enjoy it, and the marketing highlited this as a fun, R-Rated actoom movie, so it's not too hard to see why this is making money.

2.5/4

Lucy wasn't r rated.

It's rated R in the US, but most countries seem to have it rated in the 12-16 range.

Rated R for strong violence, disturbing images, and sexuality

Certification:

Argentina:16 / Australia:MA15+ / Brazil:16 / Canada:14A / Canada:13+ (Quebec) / France:U / Germany:12 / Hong Kong:IIB / Hungary:16 / India:A / Ireland:15A / Japan:PG12 / Netherlands:16 / New Zealand:R16 / Philippines:R-16 / Portugal:M/14 / Singapore:NC16 / South Korea:18 / Sweden:15 / Switzerland:16 / UK:15 / USA:R (certificate #49161)

I reckon, at most, there will be $520m made this month. That would put it almost 10% behind last year and would mean (with an average price of $8.15), 63.8m tickets sold. The worst September since 1992.

This September doesn't even seem that bad. Maybe the beginning was too weak.

When Labor Day falls can have an impact, this year there was only Monday, last year Monday and Sunday. Most years have the whole week within September. Though that doesn't guarantee that it won't be a bad month.

15 is pretty much where most R rated films end up in the UK. You have to go really hard R to get an 18 these days, which can be seen through only 4 mainstream movies this year so far getting it:

Wolf of Wall Street

The Raid 2

Sin City 2

and Gone Girl (which has surprised the hell out of me)
